Job summary

Lam Research in the SEM Lab in Tualatin, OR, is seeking a technician to prepare STEM/TEM samples and image them with Thermo Fisher Helios systems, with FIB-SEM experience a plus.

You will support Lam’s engineering teams with fast data turnaround, help optimize lab workflows, and ensure IP protection and data integrity while working a 12-hour BED shift (5am–5pm) on Thu–Sat with alternating Wed.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience with a BS degree in a physical science or equivalent training.
• Experience operating dual beam FIB/SEM tools for lamella prep.
• Familiarity with semiconductor materials and IP protection considerations.
• Ability to work a shift schedule (BED shift).

We operate with a 12 hour compressed work week schedule, this is a BED shift, 5am – 5pm, working every Thu, Fri, Sat, alternating Wed.

What you’ll do

Primary responsibility for this position is the preparation of STEM/TEM samples and imaging of samples in Scanning Transmission Electron Microscopy (STEM) using Thermo Fisher Helios systems. Additional responsibilities may include FIB-SEM analysis.

• Follow labmethodologyforSTEM sample preparationconsistent with quality standards.
• Optimizepersonal workflow for efficient throughputof samples.
• Communication withlab management to providework completion time estimates.
• Provide feedback to lab management forcontinuous improvement opportunities in lab workflows.
• Communicate with team members toensure alignment on methodologies.
• Protect customer material and IP at all times.

Who we’re looking for

• 2+ years of experience with a BS degree in a physical science, or a specializedAS degree or equivalent professional training on materials science and analytical techniques.
• Experienceoperatingdual beam FIB/SEM tools, especially in the preparation of thin lamella for STEM or TEM imaging.
• Familiarity with key developments and materials in the semiconductor industry is a plus.
• Experience in customer IP protection and sample handling is a plus.
• Ability to work a shift schedule.

Preferred qualifications

• 2+ years of experience operating dual beam FIB/SEM tools for the preparation of lamella for STEM or TEM imaging
• Bachelor’s or Associate degree in a physical science,
• Associate degree with complementary work experience
• Experience in semiconductor experience is a plus.
