Job summary

Davis H. Elliot Company, Inc. seeks experienced field personnel to patrol distribution lines and support surveying activities in various terrains.

You will handle measuring instruments, clear brush as needed, and work with a team to gather and report data in a safe, efficient manner. Qualified candidates have an associate degree in Electrical/Electronic/Mechanical Eng Tech and 10+ years in the utility industry, plus a valid driver’s license and a solid safety record.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Electrical/Electronic/Mechanical Engineering Technology.
• 10+ years of utility industry work experience.
• Valid driver’s license and safe driving record.

Responsibilities

• Walk right of ways in varied terrain to patrol distribution line damage.
• Carry and handle 11 lb measuring and switching sticks.
• May clear brush with brush axe or machete for survey work.
• Collaborate with team to share information and seek help as needed.
• Apply technical knowledge to resolve problems on site.
• Show initiative to improve processes and gain skills.
• Communicate effectively with employees and customers, written and oral.
• Assist in preparing technical reports and papers.
• Develop decision making based on job knowledge.

Elliot is a full-service electrical contractor specializing in overhead and underground distribution, transmission, substations, lighting, traffic signaling, utility locating and industrial/commercial services.

Job Description

• Walk right of ways various terrain in potentially adverse conditions to patrol distribution line damage
• Carry and handle telescopic measuring stick and switching stick that weigh approximately 11 lbs.
• May be required to use a brush axe or machete to clear brush for walking and staking during survey work
• Demonstrate ability to work with others in supplying information and seeking assistance as necessary
• Applies technical knowledge and experience in resolving problems encountered in assigned work
• Uses initiative in looking for opportunities to improve the process and increase job knowledge/technical skills
• Communicates effectively both orally and in writing with other employees and customers
• Assists in the preparation of technical reports and papers.
• Develops decision making skills based on job knowledge.

Qualifications

• Associate Degree in Electrical/Electronic/Mechanical Engineering Technology plus 10+ years of related utility industry work experience
• Possess extensive knowledge of equipment, materials, systems, and business processes
• Possess moderate computer literacy skills.
• Perform work activities while offering coaching to lesser experienced employees.
• Valid Driver's License and Safe Driving Record required.
