Job summary

Skyworks Solutions, Inc. in Cedar Rapids, IA is seeking a part-time technician to support manual and automated assembly of prototype parts for Product Development teams.

You will join a small team of technicians, work Monday–Friday 8:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m., operate precision equipment, perform soldering and component placement, and assist with parts kitting while learning new processes in a fast-paced lab environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• Experience using Microsoft Outlook, PowerPoint and Excel.

Responsibilities

• Operate state-of-the-art precision machines including die and SMT component placement, strip molding and grinding, wire bonding, material dicing, module shielding, and material evaluation.
• Solder assembly, manual picking and placing of semiconductor die and small passive components, connector soldering, and custom module assembly.
• Parts kitting/inventory and organization of lab materials; work with a microscope and tools for handling very small parts.

Description

In this role you will support manual and automated assembly of industry leading prototype parts for Skyworks Product Development teams. You will work with a small team of technicians in cooperation with design teams to produce engineering samples.

This is a Part-Time dayshift position (Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m - 12:00 p.m.)

Responsibilities

• Operation of state-of-the-art precision machines including die and SMT component placement, strip molding and grinding, wire bonding, material dicing, module shielding, and material evaluation.
• Tasks will include solder assembly, manual picking and placing of semiconductor die and small passive components, connector soldering, and custom module assembly.
• Other tasks include parts kitting/inventory and organization of lab materials. These tasks are a combination of manual assembly and equipment operation, and they will involve working with the aid of a microscope and tools for handling very small parts.

Required Experience And Skills

• HS Diploma
• Experience utilizing Microsoft Outlook, PowerPoint and Excel.
• Ability to work in a multi-team environment, strong multitasking skills, strong verbal and written communication skills, and a desire to learn new processes and equipment as products evolve.

Desired Experience And Skills

• Experience with operation of automated and semi-automated electronics assembly equipment and some preventative maintenance of this equipment.
• Soldering and printed circuit assembly experience, working from engineering drawings and markups, understanding or training for handling ESD sensitive electronic components, and experience working with the aid of a microscope.

The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is currently USD $21.54 - $37.21 per hour. Starting base pay will depend on relevant experience and skills, training and education, business needs, market demands, the ultimate job duties and requirements, and work location.
