Job summary

Thomas & Hutton is seeking an Engineering Technician to support civil engineering projects across the Southeast. You will prepare construction plans, exhibits, and reports for land development, roadways, water and sewer while collaborating with engineers and project managers.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years of CADD experience, working knowledge of Autodesk Civil 3D, and a strong eye for detail. You will follow company drafting standards, assist with bid packages, and help ensure projects

Qualifications

• High school diploma or technical training in drafting or equivalent.
• 3+ years of CADD experience in an engineering environment.
• Experience with land development projects using Autodesk Civil 3D.
• Advanced knowledge of CADD and related design tools.
• Strong understanding of company graphic standards and drafting procedures.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proven ability to manage multiple assignments and appropriately prioritize workflow.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent time management skills and ability to meet project deadlines.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Prepare construction plans, exhibits, and reports for civil engineering projects including land development, roadways, water, and sewer
• Develop and revise detailed drawings using Autodesk Civil 3D in accordance with company standards
• Perform routine to moderately complex design calculations and assist with data collection for engineering analyses
• Prepare quantity take-offs and opinions of probable construction cost
• Assist in the preparation of project specifications, permit applications, and bid packages
• Coordinate with engineers, project managers, and other technicians to support project delivery
• Ensure work is completed within project schedules and budgets
• Apply company CADD standards and contribute to maintaining and improving graphic standards
• Communicate project status and progress updates to project managers
• Participate in project meetings with internal teams and occasionally with clients, agencies, or contractors

On‑site: Monday‑Thursday 7:30 a.m.–5:30 p.m.; Friday 7:30 a.m.–11:30 a.m.
