Job summary

Dover Corporation in Salisbury, MD is seeking Engineering Technicians to prototype and test filter products using design information, test equipment, and software. You will work with various filter technologies and RF hardware, perform measurements, and document results.

Qualifications

• Associates Degree in Electronic Technology or equivalent military training, with 5 years related RF/Microwave testing experience.
• If no degree, 10 years work experience required.
• Soldering experience or skills preferred; strong calibration, circuit function, drawings interpretation, and troubleshooting knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Under minimal supervision, prototype, troubleshoot, test, and support production-related issues in the engineering department.
• Set up and use test equipment such as network analyzers, signal analyzers, oscilloscopes, and multi-meters.
• Measure and interpret parameters like gain, noise figure, 1 dB compression, intermodulation, harmonics, and spurious signals.
• Accurately troubleshoot problems and communicate solutions to stakeholders.
• May work from schematics, drawings, data sheets, or verbal instructions with interpretation.
• Handle assignments requiring sound judgment and initiative.
• Apply electronic theory to configure, model, layout, prototype, build, test, troubleshoot, and modify electronic products.
• Assist engineers with design and development of new processes and/or products.

Must have good understanding of various filter technologies (lumped element, cavity, distributed, ceramic, thin-film, etc.), active circuitry (PIN Diodes, amplifiers, bias, and control), linear and non-linear RF parameters, and troubleshooting. Must be able to competently use with basic hand tools such as soldering irons, electronic assembly, calipers, and hand tools. The position supports engineering in prototyping, pre-production, and resolving production related issues. Must have excellent communications skills and documentation skills. Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES (to Include, But Not Limited To)

• Under minimal supervision, performs a variety of technical tasks in support of the engineering department including prototyping, troubleshooting, testing, support production related issues, documentation, design of experiments, evaluation and characterization of components.
• Required to use test equipment like network analyzers, signal analyzers, signal generators, oscilloscopes, function generators, high power amplifiers, and multi-meters.
• Will be required to setup, perform and understand meaning of measurements including, but not limited to, gain, noise figure, 1 dB compression, intermodulation, harmonics, spurious, switching speed, etc.
• Accurately troubleshoot problems and effectively communicates solution to stake holders.
• May work from minimal documentation, written or verbal instructions, schematics, rough sketches, diagrams, layouts, datasheets, and plans often requiring interpretation.
• Works on assignments requiring sound judgment and self-initiative.
• Requires excellent troubleshooting acumen.
• Applies significant electronic theory to configure, model, layout, prototype, build, test, troubleshoot, determine solutions and modify electronic product for engineering efforts applicable to the department
• May assist engineers with design and development of new processes and/or products.

Qualifications Summary

Associates Degree in Electronic Technology, or equivalent military training, with 5 years related experience in the RF and Microwave testing and tuning field. In absence of a degree, 10 years work experience required. Previous soldering experience or skills preferred. Thorough knowledge of calibration, components, circuit function, interpreting drawings, troubleshooting, and schematics.
