Trew is seeking an Engineering Technician – Fabrication Support to provide hands‑on technical support for the Fabrication Department, turning engineered designs into efficient, repeatable manufacturing processes. You will bridge Engineering, Fabrication, Production, and Manufacturing Engineering to drive improvements.

You will assist with laser cutting, CNC press brake forming, sheet‑metal processing, nesting, routing, and programming, interpreting drawings and production requirements to boost

Qualifications

  • Associate degree or technical degree in Manufacturing Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or related field.
  • Experience with fabrication shops and automation.
  • Experience with nesting and programming.

Responsibilities

  • Read engineering drawings and manufacturing instructions.
  • Support laser cutting, CNC press brake forming, sheet‑metal processing, nesting, routing, and production troubleshooting.
  • Assist in determining manufacturing methods, tooling, and processing sequences; provide hands-on support.
  • Read blueprints and ensure correct materials and configurations.
  • Adhere to 5S and safety procedures.
  • Review nests for part orientation, quantity, and manufacturability.
  • Support CNC press brake programming and verification.

The Engineering Technician – Fabrication Support provides hands‑on technical support to the Fabrication Department, helping convert engineered designs and released work into efficient, repeatable manufacturing processes. This position serves as a key connection between Engineering, Fabrication, Production, and Manufacturing Engineering.

The Engineering Technician – Fabrication Support provides hands‑on technical support to the Fabrication Department, helping convert engineered designs and released work into efficient, repeatable manufacturing processes. This position serves as a key connection between Engineering, Fabrication, Production, and Manufacturing Engineering.

The technician will support laser cutting, CNC press brake forming, sheet‑metal processing, nesting, routing, programming, tooling, and production troubleshooting. The role requires the ability to interpret engineering drawings, understand manufacturing requirements, identify issues before production, and work directly with operators and engineers to improve processes.

Duties / Responsibilities
  • Demonstrates Ability to Read measuring equipment such as tape measure, calibers, protractor
  • Support daily fabrication operations, laser cutting, brake forming/bending, Material handling / processing, Robotics
  • Assist in determining appropriate manufacturing methods, tooling, machines, and processing sequences. Hands on support when needed
  • Ability to read blueprints
  • Understands and applies basic concepts of 5S
  • Support creation and review of laser nests using Bystronic/BySoft or similar software
  • Review nests for part orientation, quantity, material utilization, and manufacturability
  • Adheres to safety procedures and protocols
  • Accurately read & execute internal work orders
  • Help maintain nesting standards and best practices
  • Support CNC press brake programming and program verification.
  • Review bend sequences, tooling, backgauge positions, bend allowances, and material requirements.
  • Verify that required drawings, models, specifications, material information, and manufacturing instructions are available before production
  • Willingly follows Instruction/direction from leadership
  • Works well with a team
  • Ability to identify & report safety hazards
Required Skills / Abilities
  • Understanding of sheet‑metal fabrication processes.
  • Strong problem‑solving and troubleshooting skills with mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to work independently while knowing when to elevate an issue.
  • Basic computer skills for data entry and machine control.
Education & Experience

Associate degree or technical degree in Manufacturing Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or related field. Experience with fabrication shops and automation. Experience with nesting and programming.

Work Environment

The work environment will include exposure to manufacturing machinery and potentially noisy conditions. The temperature inside a warehouse can vary. Some warehouses are climate‑controlled, while others may not be.

Physical Requirements

The employee will frequently lift on average 30lbs throughout the course of a shift, ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally. The employee will be required to stand for extended periods of time. The employee will be required to frequently bend and/or twist throughout the course of a shift. Good hand‑eye coordination and manual dexterity are often necessary.
