Job description

Manufacturing Engineering Technician II, Catheter

Second shift, 4x10s (approx. 3:30 PM to 1:30 AM)

Summary

A medical device contract manufacturer is adding a second-shift Manufacturing Engineering Technician to support its catheter and therapy-delivery manufacturing line. This is a hands-on equipment and process technician role. You will be the first line of defense when equipment goes down, keeping the line running through the night with limited supervision. This is a senior technician position, not an entry-level, operator, or inspection role.

The core of this job is catheter. You will spend your shift on the equipment that builds catheter and balloon products, so real hands-on catheter manufacturing experience is essential. Exposure to electromechanical and test work is a plus, but it can be trained if the catheter foundation is there.

What you'll do
  • Serve as first response for equipment and line-support issues on the catheter line, keeping production moving
  • Troubleshoot and maintain catheter bonding and forming equipment such as reflow, hot box, split die bonders, and ultrasonic and laser bonders, including tasks like changing fuses, diagnosing failed controllers, cleaning heads, and removing nozzles
  • Perform IQs and process validations as engineering develops and releases new processes
  • Qualify new manufacturing and test equipment after purchase
  • Implement change orders and perform routine preventive maintenance
  • Order spares, equipment, and tooling through Epicor
  • Support operator training and floor-level technical questions as needed
What you'll bring

Required:

  • Hands-on catheter and balloon manufacturing experience, including familiarity with how balloons are bonded to shafts and the equipment used to do it
  • Ability to troubleshoot and maintain catheter process equipment, not just operate it
  • 5+ years of hands-on technician experience in regulated medical device manufacturing (this is a senior technician role)
  • Ability to work independently and stay steady under pressure on second shift
  • Strong attention to detail and clear communication with operators

Preferred:

  • Experience across both catheter and electromechanical or electrical-test work. Catheter is the essential piece; strength in both is a bonus, not a requirement
  • IQ/OQ and equipment qualification experience
  • Prior work in a Class 7/8 cleanroom
  • Epicor or similar ERP experience
Other

Occasional international travel to global manufacturing sites is possible but rare and well-planned. Preferred, not required.
