Job summary

Aspen Systems, LLC is seeking a motivated technician to join our engineering team to build, optimize, and test miniature cooling systems. You will work with engineers on prototype units during the initial build phase and communicate test results concisely.

You should be able to work independently with engineering guidance, follow engineering specifications, and review CAD models. Experience reading engineering documentation and ISO 9001 environment is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret engineering assembly drawings and mechanical part drawings.
• Build prototype units and test fixtures according to specifications.
• Perform mechanical assembly, brazing, insulation, and simple electrical wiring as needed.
• Instrument prototypes with thermocouples and gauges and document test results.
• Collaborate with engineering to understand preliminary results and next steps.

Aspen is primarily focused on developing custom refrigeration systems for our customers and transitioning those solutions into production at our own in-house manufacturing facility.

Job Description

Aspen Systems, LLC is looking for a motivated technician to work with our engineering team to build, optimize, and test miniature cooling systems. The candidate is expected to work with our engineers on prototype units in the initial build phase of a project. The candidate will be expected to communicate concisely with the engineering team. The candidate should be able to work independently to build and test prototypes when provided with the proper project definition.

Responsibilities

• Work with the engineering design team to build prototype units – this includes reading engineering assembly drawings and mechanical part drawings.
• Build systems and test fixtures according to engineering specifications – this involves the following skills:
• Mechanical assembly
• Brazing (copper, aluminum, stainless steel)
• Charging refrigeration systems with refrigerant
• Bending copper tubes to drawings
• Insulating
• Simple electrical wiring
• Instrument prototype and breadboard systems with thermocouples and pressure gauges.
• Execute tests on breadboard and prototype systems.
• Understand and communicate preliminary test results.

Qualifications

• Experience with refrigeration systems is a plus
• Experience with brazing is a major plus
• 5+ years of experience working in a manufacturing environment
• Good communication, organization, and interpersonal skills
• Experience reading engineering documentation, such as product specifications, system schematics, and test procedures
• Experience with building of electrical and mechanical systemsSelf-motivated: able to work independently with engineering guidance
• Experience working in an ISO 9001-compliant environment
• Proficient in MS Office
• Able to review CAD models
