CTDI is seeking an Engineering Technician to serve as an on-site technology/automation support resource at one of our branch locations. This role handles day-to-day upkeep, troubleshooting, and preventative maintenance of automated & testing systems in production — including conveyance, sortation, robotics, in-house test solutions and PLC-controlled equipment — to maximize uptime and reliability. The role also supports new system launches across the network, assisting with physical installation and readiness testing of new systems, with travel up to 40% during peak deployment seasons.
1st Shift:
8:00AM - 4:45PM, Monday - Friday
Pay Rate:
$21.00 - $38.00 per hour
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary on-site point of contact for automated systems, including conveyance, sortation, testing, robotics, scanning infrastructure, and PLC-controlled equipment.
- Perform routine preventative maintenance on hardware per established schedules and manufacturer specs, including management of on-site spare parts.
- Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues on automated equipment to minimize downtime and maintain throughput.
- Support hardware augmentations and upgrades, including component swaps, sensor replacement/recalibration, and wiring repairs.
- Maintain accurate maintenance logs, parts inventory, and service records; elevate recurring issues or parts needs to Engineering and Automation leadership.
- Coordinate with branch operations to schedule maintenance windows that minimize production impact.
- Travel to support new launches, assisting with physical installation of conveyance systems, project planning, remote support, and PLC-led hardware at new or upgraded sites.
- Verify wiring configuration, terminations, and power distribution are correctly run and staged ahead of controls engineers, ensuring hardware is ready for programming and system testing.
