Job summary

CTDI seeks a hands-on Robotics Engineer for the 2nd shift in Haslet, TX. You will develop modular control code with TwinCAT 3 and Structured Text, program ABB robots via RAPID/RobotStudio, and integrate Mecademic robots for precise electronics handling.

Responsibilities include designing EtherCAT networks, linking controllers to CTDI's WMS, and driving continuous improvements to cycle times and yield. Requires a B.S. in a related field and 2+ years of relevant experience.

Qualifications

  • B.S. in Robotics, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of experience with TwinCAT 3, Structured Text, and Motion Control libraries.
  • Proficiency in RAPID programming and RobotStudio for ABB robotics.
  • Experience with Mecademic robotics or high-precision Cartesian systems is a plus.
  • Hands-on experience with EtherCAT, TCP/IP, and related connectivity.
  • Familiarity with C#/.NET for interfaces and Git for version control.

Responsibilities

Description

This individual will be involved with cutting-edge Cable TV (CATV) head-end equipment and set top box technology. This individual should be a high-energy, quick learner who enjoys a hands-on, fast-paced work environment.

2nd Shift: 3:00PM - 11:30PM, Monday-Friday

Core Responsibilities
  • PLC & Motion Control: Develop and optimize modular control code usingStructured Text (ST)inTwinCAT 3.
  • Robotic Programming:
    • Program and simulateABBindustrial arms usingRAPIDandRobotStudio.
    • Integrate and scriptMecademicrobots for high-accuracy handling of sensitive electronics (e.g., USB/HDMI insertion).
  • System Architecture: Design and maintainEtherCATnetwork topologies to synchronize robots, sensors, and machine vision.
  • Integration: Utilize TwinCAT libraries to connect machine controllers directly with CTDI’s Warehouse Management System (WMS) for real-time data logging.
  • Troubleshooting: Perform deep-dive diagnostics on electro-mechanical systems, identifying root causes for latency or precision drift.
  • Continuous Improvement: Reduce cycle times and improve first-pass yield on "Multi-Unit Testers" through path optimization and code efficiency.
Technical Requirements
  • Education: B.S. in Robotics, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
  • TwinCAT/Beckhoff: 2+ years of experience withTwinCAT 3, with a strong command ofStructured Text (ST)andMotion Controllibraries.
  • ABB Ecosystem: Proficiency inRAPIDprogramming and offline programming/reach studies inRobotStudio.
  • Precision Robotics: Experience with small-form-factor robotics (Mecademic) or high-precision Cartesian systems.
  • Communication Protocols: Hands-on experience withEtherCAT, TCP/IP, and potentially TwinCAT IoT/MQTT.
  • Software Skills: Familiarity withC# / .NET(for middle-layer interfaces) and version control (Git).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in thetelecom or consumer electronicsindustry.
  • Knowledge ofMachine Visionintegration (Cognex or Keyence) within a robotic cell.
  • Ability to read and interpret complexelectrical schematicsand pneumatic diagrams.
  • Familiarity withESD (Electrostatic Discharge)safety protocols for robotic end-effectors.
Required Experience
  • Associate Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field of Science (Bachelor'sdegree preferred)
  • Internship or project experience with test engineering.
