Job summary

Jobtailor in the United States (Virginia) is seeking a skilled Technician to support testing of mining products, equipment, and systems. You will work with engineers and technicians to perform tests, interpret drawings, and assemble or modify test fixtures.

The role requires high school diploma, 1 year of heavy equipment experience, ability to travel up to 30%, and willingness to obtain mine safety certifications. You will use MS Office for reporting and maintain safety practices.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1 year automotive or heavy equipment experience, or technical training.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings and schematics.
  • Ability to operate and maintain power and hand tools.
  • Willingness to travel nationally and internationally up to 30%.
  • Must obtain and maintain Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) training and a valid driver’s license and passport.

Responsibilities

  • Tests on mining products, equipment, or systems with Engineers and Technicians.
  • Reads and interprets sketches, drawings, or schematics to complete tasks.
  • Fabricates, assembles, or modifies test fixtures.
  • Works with Engineers and field personnel on tests or R&D projects.
  • Installs data acquisition equipment for testing in lab or field.
  • Performs pre-shift inspections on support equipment and haul trucks.
  • Handles parts using warehouse procedures.
  • Maintains safe work practices including lockout/tagout.
  • Performs basic haul truck operation in support of testing.
  • Participates in Engineering Development Program.

Responsibilities
  • Works with Engineers and other Technicians performing tests on mining products, equipment, or systems
  • Reads and interprets sketches, engineering drawings, electrical or hydraulic schematics, or verbal instructions to complete required tasks
  • Fabricates, assembles, troubleshoots, or reconfigures test fixtures
  • Works as a team member with Engineers, other Technicians, and field personnel on tests or R&D projects
  • Modifies, builds, or installs prototype truck components in the test lab or in the field
  • Installs data acquisition equipment required for engineering tests in the test lab or in the field
  • Builds, or repairs electrical control wires used for new or existing test equipment
  • Keeps work areas clean and orderly
  • Works with supervisor or co-workers to perform mechanical or electrical tasks
  • Receives and issues parts using the established warehouse procedures
  • Utilizes the LN and LIKV to check parts availability or search for Bill of Materials (BOMs) and engineering drawings
  • Performs pre-shift inspections on support equipment and haul trucks
  • Has knowledge of and uses the lock out tag out procedures required for task where potential energy is a hazard
  • Preforms duties of basic haul truck operation in support of testing and site maintenance
  • Participates in Engineering Development Program.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 1 year automotive or heavy equipment experience; or technical school or apprenticeship certificate and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to use basic functions in MS Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook) or similar software packages
  • Ability to work according to established engineering, company, or customer safety procedures
  • Ability to operate and maintain power and hand tools
  • Ability to handle and dispose of hazardous wastes such as oil, antifreeze, parts cleaner solvent, or similar material
  • Ability to work as a team member with Engineers, other Technicians, and field personnel on tests or Product Validation projects
  • Ability to work with supervisor or co-workers to perform mechanical or electrical tasks
  • Is expected to travel nationally and internationally up to 30% to customer or supplier sites
  • Ability to complete and maintain mine certifications or safety training such as Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) hazard training
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a valid driver’s license and passport.
