Job summary

Molex in Carlsbad, California is seeking an Engineering Technician to support process development, lab testing, and engineering activities. In this role, you will partner with engineers and cross-functional teams to perform testing, operate manufacturing and laboratory equipment, analyze results, and support continuous improvement initiatives.

The ideal candidate is hands-on, detail-oriented, and enjoys solving technical challenges in a laboratory and manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

  • One year or more hands-on laboratory, manufacturing, or electronics testing experience.
  • Experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings and SOPs.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).

Responsibilities

  • Operate process engineering equipment including die bonders, epoxy dispensers, and industrial ovens.
  • Retrieve data files and develop reports using Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Execute routine and non-routine laboratory tests and experiments in accordance with test protocols, SOPs, and engineering instructions.
  • Perform testing activities such as epoxy dispensing, electrical measurements, and mechanical measurements.
  • Accurately record observations, test results, and experimental data.
  • Operate laboratory equipment including digital and optical microscopes, micrometers, hot plates, and precision scales.
  • Assist engineers with module assembly, disassembly, sample preparation, and troubleshooting activities.
  • Maintain laboratory organization and support calibration and maintenance documentation.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and basic repairs on laboratory equipment and coordinate vendor service and calibration when required.
  • Comply with safety, environmental, and quality requirements while participating in audits and hazard assessments.
  • Support continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to optimize testing methods, data collection processes, and operational costs.
  • Provide feedback on test and assembly procedures and partner with engineers to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to solve technical challenges and improve product performance.
  • Communicate analyses, findings, and recommended solutions effectively.

Your Job

Molex is seeking an Engineering Technician to support process development, laboratory testing, and engineering activities at our Carlsbad, California facility. In this role, you will partner with engineers and cross-functional teams to perform testing, operate manufacturing and laboratory equipment, analyze results, and support continuous improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate is hands-on, detail-oriented, and enjoys solving technical challenges in a laboratory and manufacturing environment. Someone that possesses good manual dexterity to handle very small optical and electrical components and ability to follow documented procedures and accurately collect and record data will excel in this role.

Our Team

You will work closely with process engineers, technicians, and cross-functional partners supporting advanced electronic and optical product development. Our team is focused on delivering innovative solutions through experimentation, testing, and collaborative problem solving.

What You Will Do

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
  • One (1) year or more hands-on laboratory, manufacturing, OR electronics testing experience
  • Experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings, schematics, and standard operating procedures
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
What Will Put You Ahead
  • Experience handling small PCBAs, circuit boards, or other sensitive electronic components
  • Experience with electrical and mechanical instrumentation, manufacturing equipment, or materials testing
  • Experience testing optical components
  • Experience supporting engineering development or product validation activities

Your Compensation

For this role, we anticipate paying $30-35 per hour. This role is eligible for variable pay, issued as a monetary bonus or in another form.
