Job summary

PCL Construction is seeking an Engineering/Technical Student for Summer 2027 internships across North Dakota and Minnesota. You’ll support Field/Project Engineers, Project Managers and Superintendents on infrastructure projects and gain hands-on experience on-site.

Ideal candidates are full-time construction-related students with a valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to multiple job sites. Housing allowance may be provided for assignments away from home.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled as a full-time student pursuing a degree relevant to the construction industry.
• Desire to pursue a career in construction project management, field supervision, or estimating.
• Eligible to work in the United States and 18+.
• Valid driver's license with reliable transportation to the job site.
• Able to work full time May–August in MN or ND; housing allowance for away-from-home work.
• Able to navigate a construction site daily; climb ladders and stairs.
• Background check may be required; substance abuse test may be required.

Responsibilities

• Assists engineers, PMs and superintendents.
• Conducts safety and quality audits.
• Reads and interprets drawings and specs.
• Logs submittals and processes RFIs.
• Assists surveying and project layout.
• Maintains field drawings, equipment and records.
• Coordinates subcontractors, vendors and field staff.
• Attends project meetings.
• Prepares memos, letters and minutes.
• Supports project documentation.
• Assists with estimating and pricing requests.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled as a full-time student pursuing a degree relevant to the construction industry (e.g. construction management, construction engineering, construction technology, etc.)
• Desire to pursue a career in construction project management, field supervision, or estimating.
• Proof of eligibility to work in the United States and 18 years of age or older
• Possess a valid driver’s license and have reliable transportation to travel to and from the job site
• Able to work full time from May to August in MN or ND or other states where our construction projects are located (a monthly housing allowance will be provided to selected candidates who are working in an area different from their residence)
• Able to navigate through a construction site on a daily basis, climb ladders and stairs
• Based on client requirements, candidates may be required to complete a criminal background check
• Employment with PCL is contingent upon passing a substance abuse test conducted by a third party

The estimated wage for this role is $20-25/hour, based on your experience and qualifications. Final compensation will be confirmed as part of a personalized offer.
