Job description

About Oxford Royale

Oxford Royale is a leading global provider of elite summer schools. Driven by a firm belief that education is about much more than a formal classroom, we offer young people unparalleled cultural and learning experiences, giving them a window to a world of opportunity.

Teaching is at the heart of the Engineering programmes at Oxford Royale. We are seeking a teacher who is passionate about delivering engaging lessons that introduce students to key areas of engineering, including mechanical engineering, civil engineering, electrical and electronics engineering. The ideal teacher will inspire students by integrating practical cases, encouraging strategic thinking and fostering a curious mindset. Lessons should challenge students to think critically, actively participate, and apply theoretical concepts to practical cases.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and adapt lessons using the Teacher’s Guide, ensuring content meets the diverse needs of students.
  • Deliver dynamic and interactive lessons that engage students in exploring engineering fundamentals and advanced topics.
  • Use subject expertise to ensure student progress, providing tailored feedback and adapting tasks as necessary.
  • Lead practical workshops, simulations, and case study analyses to connect theory with real-world challenges.
  • Mark assignments, offer detailed feedback, and complete student reports reflecting individual progress.
  • Handle administrative tasks, including maintaining registers and attending staff meetings.
  • Collaborate with fellow teaching staff to maintain a stimulating and inclusive learning environment.
Person Specification
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in engineering, with awareness of current trends and practices.
  • Passion for inspiring students and developing their understanding of the subject.
  • Ability to communicate complex concepts clearly and adapt teaching styles to suit various learning needs.
  • Creative and confident teaching approach, encouraging hands‑on problem‑solving and innovation.
  • Fluency in English and strong organizational skills.
Position Details
  • Post-holders must hold an existing right to work in the USA (visa sponsorship is not possible).
  • Programmes are two weeks in length with 2 or 4 week contracts available (location-dependent).
  • A timetable for teaching hours will be provided according to the chosen location; lessons take place most weekdays in the mornings and afternoons, with some weekend teaching required depending on location.
  • Compulsory online training must be completed before starting the role, plus attendance at further in‑person training before the programme begins.
  • Whilst teaching materials are provided, teachers are expected to plan and prepare for each lesson, contributing their own expertise and, in some cases, adapting according to programme timetable and student interests and abilities. Adjustments must meet the minimum delivery requirements of learning outcomes and Programme Director approval.
  • This is an exempt role with compensation of $1200/week to cover core instruction, preparation, marking and support of supplementary academic activities.
Essential Qualifications
  • Undergraduate degree (or higher) in Engineering or a closely related field.
Desirable Qualifications / Experience
  • Academic, educational and/or relevant work experience in the subject field to be taught.
  • Experience of delivering in‑person teaching in their subject to students of the relevant age group (13‑16; 16‑18), preferably on short summer courses.
  • A recognised US teaching qualification for teaching in the subject to be taught or one closely related.
  • Master’s degree in the subject to be taught or one closely related.

We incorporate equality into all we do, making every effort to eliminate discrimination, create equal opportunities and develop good working relationships.
