We are looking for an Engineering Systems Manager to serve as the backbone of our hardware engineering team. This role involves managing the core engineering software suite that enables our mechanical engineers to design, document, and release complex automation products. The goal is to eliminate technical friction and ensure our PDM, PLM, and project management tools are optimized for speed, reliability, and data integrity.

Responsibilities
  • Act as architect and administrator for the core engineering suite, including SolidWorks, PDM, PLM (Arena), and Jira.
  • Create and maintain custom workflows, automations, and templates within the engineering suite.
  • Take feedback and requests from engineering teams, implementing best‑practice solutions.
  • Serve as the first line of defense for troubleshooting error messages, vault access issues, and software bugs for the mechanical engineering team.
  • Enforce and improve documentation standards for file naming, revision control, and BOM management within the PLM system.
  • Perform regular maintenance of the software systems as new versions and features are released.
  • Test new features to ensure they work with existing workflows and automations.
  • Manage permissions and onboarding/offboarding for all hardware engineering users across all software platforms.
  • Partner with IT procurement to co‑own vendor relationships for software license purchases and renewals, ensuring continuous availability of tools.
Qualifications
  • 3+ years of experience administering CAD (SolidWorks strongly preferred), PDM, and PLM software for an engineering team.
  • Proven experience configuring PLM systems such as Teamcenter, Arena, or Propel.
  • Proven experience with Jira, creating custom automations and workflows.
  • Familiarity with all lifecycle phases of hardware product development, from prototyping to production.
  • Deep familiarity with the mechanical design process, including understanding of parts and assemblies, 3D and 2D CAD, and supporting documentation, and how these relate within PDM and PLM databases.
  • Support‑first mindset with a calm, problem‑solving approach under tight project deadlines.
  • Strong ability to create how‑to guides and training materials for engineers on system use.
  • Ability to translate the ideal workflow described by an engineer into a realistic process within the relevant software product.
  • Bonus: familiarity with quality‑management‑system (QMS) implementation.
Location & Compensation

This role is based in our Boston office in Charlestown, MA, and requires a minimum of three days a week in the office, with additional days as needed. The annual salary range is $128,000 – $135,000, tailored to qualifications and experience. The package includes equity and a 401(k) plan.
