Job summary

Aleron is seeking an Engineering Support Specialist in Taunton, MA to join a cross-functional Hardware Engineering team working on complex, mission-critical systems. You will build, integrate, troubleshoot, and improve prototype hardware across the product lifecycle.

The role requires hands-on assembly, reading schematics and drawings, and performing circuit board rework. A security clearance is anticipated for this defense-focused environment and background checks will apply.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Tech degree in Engineering or related field with 2+ years of relevant experience; or Master's degree.
  • 2+ years of experience supporting hardware assembly, system integration, or prototype development.
  • 2+ years reading electrical schematics and mechanical drawings; 2+ years wiring harnesses, chassis assemblies, or electromechanical systems.
  • 2+ years using hand tools and assembly equipment in engineering/mfg/lab environments.
  • 1+ year circuit board rework including surface mount and through-hole components.

Responsibilities

  • Support electrical and mechanical prototype and pre-production builds.
  • Read, interpret, and apply electrical/mechanical drawings and wiring diagrams.
  • Build, assemble, and integrate cables, harnesses, chassis, subsystems, and hardware.
  • Perform hardware integration and identify design/process improvements.
  • Conduct circuit board rework (SMD and through-hole) and hardware modifications.
  • Use hand tools and specialized equipment to support development and testing.

Job Requirements
What You'll Bring
  • Bachelor's degree or Technology degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related field, plus 2+ years of relevant experience; or Master's degree.
  • 2+ years of experience supporting hardware assembly, system integration, engineering builds, or prototype development.
  • 2+ years of experience reading and interpreting electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and engineering documentation.
  • 2+ years of experience building and integrating cables, wiring harnesses, chassis assemblies, or electromechanical systems.
  • 2+ years of experience using hand tools and assembly equipment in an engineering, manufacturing, or laboratory environment.
  • 1+ year of experience performing circuit board rework involving surface mount and through-hole components.
What Sets You Apart
  • IPC J-STD-001 CIS Certification.
  • Experience soldering under a microscope.
  • Experience using pin and socket crimp tools.
  • Familiarity with military-style connectors, including D38999 connectors.
  • Understanding of the hardware development lifecycle from concept through production.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities with a creative, solution-oriented mindset.
  • Collaborative approach and commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
