Engineering Supervisor
A beloved hotel with an enviable oceanfront location has recently undergone a $50 million renovation, including a redesign of the Loews Miami Beach Hotel. This reimagined South Beach icon now features all-new touchpoints throughout the property.
This position supports the Director of Engineering in maintaining the property's assets at the highest standards by providing leadership and supervision to the engineering staff, overseeing daily operations, preparing departmental reports, assisting with staffing and training, and evaluating performance.
Job Specific
- Maintain engineering department staffing levels for optimal performance.
- Establish daily work assignments and oversee their completion.
- Review completed work orders and inspect work to ensure quality and accuracy.
- Assist department heads with handling maintenance-related guest complaints.
- Ensure all preventive maintenance operations are completed to standard.
- Assist engineers in diagnosing equipment malfunctions.
- Coordinate training programs for department personnel.
- Supervise and support engineering staff daily.
- Ensure cleanliness and safety standards are met in the maintenance shop.
- Participate in hotel meetings to stay informed about activities, promotions, and events; maintain communication with other departments.
- Assist in monitoring energy consumption, maintaining equipment, and managing inventories.
- Coordinate with the Dispatcher to communicate maintenance requests.
- Assist in preparing ADA compliance checklists.
- Administer key control and tool control procedures.
- Collaborate with Security on repairs and maintenance of electronic/hard key systems to ensure security.
- Perform periodic inspections of property assets to ensure maintenance standards.
- Recruit, train, evaluate, and discipline departmental personnel following hotel standards.
- Implement new hire training and ongoing competency programs.
- Develop and approve departmental budgets, forecasts, and schedules.
- Ensure adherence to all hotel policies, guidelines, and procedures.
- Maintain payroll records and control labor costs within budgets.
- Evaluate employee performance, identify areas for improvement, and establish goals and training needs.
- Maintain open communication with all hotel departments to ensure smooth operations and guest satisfaction.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
- Three to five years of supervisory experience in a hospitality environment.
- Knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, refrigeration, and life safety systems.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural and blueprints.
- Understanding of OSHA regulations, equipment maintenance, and record-keeping systems.
- Strong management, leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
- Familiarity with computer management systems such as Espresso.
- Physical ability to stand, stoop, bend repeatedly, and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Flexibility to work weekends and holidays as needed.
