Job summary

General Dynamics Land Systems offers a Summer 2027 Internship in Michigan, focusing on Sights and Electro-Optical Sensors. Interns work within Engineering on design activities in the Lethality Sensors Hardware area, gaining hands-on experience and mentorship over a 3-month period.

The program embeds students in key functional areas, with compensation based on area of study and class standing, and opportunities for real-world impact as part of a Fortune 100 aerospace and defense leader.

Qualifications

Pursuing a bachelors degree in Electrical engineering from an accredited 4-year university.
Attained at least a sophomore status based on university/college's class standing requirements at the start of the internship.
Preferred - GPA of 3.0 or higher
Must be at least 18 years old
Must be a U.S. Person (i.e. a lawful permanent resident of the U.S.)
Must successfully pass standard pre-employment screens and must provide an official college or university transcript from their school before their first day of employment.
Must be able to complete a minimum of a full-time, 3-month assignment
Basic proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite.
Must have strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to use Engineering Development and Test Tools.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with interdisciplinary teams.
Strong multi-tasking skills

Responsibilities

Design, Develop, Test Mechanical Components and Subsystems for sighting and sensor systems.
Develop Engineering Design Fixes, and Coordinate Solutions
Support fabrication, assembly, integration, component selection, procurement, and prototype hardware troubleshooting and builds
Review analysis, design, modeling, hardware and requirement documents and test plans
Strong record keeping skills with commitment to tracking design changes, and hardware revisions.
