Job summary

Raba Kistner, Inc. seeks an energetic Engineering Student Intern to join the Consultants team in the McAllen or Brownsville, TX area. Under supervision, you will prepare boring logs, input data into gINT, submit OneCall information, and edit geotechnical reports and proposals.

Field logging and lab testing duties may be required. Responsibilities include converting logs to WinCore, editing logs, preparing laboratory assignments, crosschecking results, and generating maps for reports.

Qualifications

• College or university Junior, Senior, or Graduate Student in Civil Engineering, or a closely related field.
• Possess a current valid state issued driver’s license and meet auto insurability requirements.

Responsibilities

• Convert logs created in gINT to WinCore logs when required.
• Edit gINT and WinCore logs.
• Prepare laboratory assignments.
• Crosscheck laboratory test results.
• Generate Boring Location Maps and Generalized Subsurface Profiles for reports.
• Adhere to Health & Safety programs and use protective equipment as needed.
• Meet established project deadlines.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

Raba Kistner is seeking an energetic Engineering Student Intern, to join our Consultants team in the McAllen or Brownsville, TX area. Under immediate supervision, the Engineering Student Intern will work on preparing boring logs and inputting laboratory test data and field logs into gINT software program, submitting OneCall information for field coordination, editing geotechnical reports and proposals, and performing field logging and standard geotechnical laboratory testing duties when required. Other responsibilities include:

• Convert logs created in the gINT software program into WinCore logs when required.
• Edit gINT and WinCore logs.
• Prepare laboratory assignments.
• Crosscheck laboratory test results.
• Generate Boring Location Maps and Generalized Subsurface Profiles for reports.
• Understand, adhere and participate in the Raba Kistner Health and Safety and Behavior Based Safety Programs and set a good safety example.
• Ensure the safe utilization, storage and maintenance of all documents and tools.
• Update Supervisor on progress and delays on every task or assignment.
• Ensure safe usage and maintenance of company vehicle and field equipment.
• Meet established project deadlines.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• College or university Junior, Senior, or Graduate Student in good academic standing in Civil Engineering, or a closely related field.
• Possess a current valid state issued driver’s license and meet company's auto insurability requirements.

Considerable Knowledge Of

• Civil engineering fundamentals.
• Geotechnical (soil mechanics) laboratory test methods.
• Introduction to geotechnical engineering (soil mechanics).

Working Knowledge of engineering principles, practices, and methods. Intermediate to Advance Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook). Ability to multitask and possess excellent communication, organizational, and judgment skills. Available and willing to travel to various jobsites.

Ability to read and understand instructions, labels, reports, etc. Ability to effectively communicate information both written and oral and respond to questions in person-to-person and small group situations with customers, clients, general public and other employees of the organization. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Must be able to work in a team environment, as well as independently at a job site.
