Job summary

BorgWarner invites students pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Industrial, Mechanical, or Manufacturing Engineering to join our Bellwood, IL plant as a Manufacturing Engineering Intern.

You will work on PPAP projects, troubleshooting, 8D investigations, SPC studies, and process improvements while learning robust engineering practices. On-site availability and strong communication are essential for success.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree with a minimum GPA of 2.5/4.0.
• Ability to commute to Bellwood, IL (not remote).
• Excellent oral and written communication; able to multitask and learn quickly.

Responsibilities

• Support PPAP projects and troubleshooting for machinery and quality issues.
• Participate in 8D problem-solving studies and SPC analyses.
• Assist in time studies, process cycle time improvements, and layout design.
• Help prepare documentation such as work standards, control plans, and process docs.
• Contribute to gaging studies (CPK) and OEE improvements.

• PPAP Project Support
• Conduct troubleshooting studies for machinery and quality issues
• 8D project studies
• Documentation updates (system & floor)
• SPC studies
• Plant floor layout design
• Time Studies and Process Cycle Time Improvements
• Redesign machine components
• Document Preparation and design (Work Standards, Control Plans, Process Documentation)
• Gaging - CPK Studies
• OEE & Process Standards
• Machining Capability Improvements
• Tolerances
• Reduce process variation

Education Requirements

Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Industrial, Mechanical, Manufacturing Engineering or related field with a minimum GPA of 2.5/4.0.

Additional Requirements

• Ability to reliably commute our Bellwood, IL plant (not remote)
• Experience showing mechanical aptitude a plus
• Excellent communication skills required - oral and written
• Good multi-tasking skills
• Ability to drive for results is essential
• Ability to do logical problem solving
• Basic understanding of engineering principles
• Willingness and desire to learn.
• Ability to work independently or in a team setting.

Pay Range

• $21.89 - $29.86
• $19.63-28.40
