Job summary

Jobtailor seeks a senior Mechanical Engineer to lead design and development of infusion products within the hardware team. You will craft electro‑mechanical assemblies, optimize for manufacturability, and drive system integration from concept through transfer to manufacturing.

You will perform DoE, create robust GD&T drawings, and mentor engineers to deliver high‑reliability products under regulated requirements. Excellent communication and project-management skills are essential.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of mechanical design experience on product development teams.
• 5+ years in regulated environments (Medical, Aerospace, Military).
• Experience with SolidWorks or CAD systems.
• Experience with DoE, GD&T, DFMEA and FMEA is a plus.
• Strong English communication skills.

Job description

• Lead the design and development of Infusion products within the hardware team
• Design complex electro-mechanical mechanisms to achieve engineering performance goals
• Establish and perform Design of Experiments (DoE) to assess and characterize new solutions and designs
• Integrate functional elements into unified system designs
• Design product housings integrating subsystems into sleek, ergonomic industrial designs
• Generate GD&T drawings identifying critical dimensions using tolerance stack-up analysis and manufacturing process capabilities
• Perform and lead DFMEA according to product/system functional analysis
• Update 3D and 2D designs and solutions accordingly
• Optimize designs for low cost, high quality, high reliability and high-volume assembly
• Investigate new technologies and best practices
• Establish engineering documentation best practices within the mechanical team
• Focus design efforts on improved performance and reduced complexity
• Coordinate internal and external resources for design, redesign, prototyping and transfer-to-manufacturing activities
• Perform and document failure analysis of returned products to drive improvements
• Work with customers and vendors on technical issues as needed
• Create project timelines for mechanical engineering activities and track progress
• Ensure compliance with Health, Safety, Environment, Energy and Quality Management System requirements
• Mentor and guide experienced engineers and lead team projects
• Serve as technical lead for development and ongoing support of durable goods

Requirements

• BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering
• 10+ years of experience as a mechanical design engineer on product development teams
• 5+ years of experience developing within a regulated environment (Medical, Aerospace, Military)
• Experience designing complex electro-mechanical assemblies in SolidWorks or other CAD system
• Experience selecting appropriate materials and fabrication methods based on engineering requirements
• Experience using PDM to manage database and drawing revisions in accordance with FDA requirements
• Design for Manufacturing (DFM) or New Product Introduction experienceExperience with system integration challenges such as thermal management of electronics, machined and injection molded part design, and design for reliability
• Attention to detail and a methodical, hands-on approach in an R&D lab environment
• Task management skills with ability to prioritize multiple assignments
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
• Effective spoken, written and reading English proficiency
• Must be authorized to work for any employer in the United States; employment visa sponsorship is unavailable
