Job summary

Precision Castparts is seeking a Process Quality Engineer to support the Dunkirk manufacturing team. The role focuses on reviewing processes for compliance and developing manufacturing routes for conversion customers while aiding internal SWI audits, document control, and operator training.

You will monitor process parameters, validate furnaces and calibration reports, manage variances, and help drive cost and yield improvements with the process engineering team.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Review process performance using SPC data to assess capabilities.
• Review and approve furnace surveys and calibration reports.
• Disposition variances and support root-cause analysis for IRR.
• Assist in development of forge tables and press/GFM programs for toll conversion customers.
• Contribute to cost reductions, product and process improvements, and yield improvement initiatives.
• Monitor product properties and yield, and maintain quality documentation.
• Participate in SWI and 6S audits and staff training.

Summary

This role will assist the Dunkirk process and quality engineering team to review processes for compliance and develop manufacturing routes for conversion customers. This individual will also support quality functions including internal SWI auditing, document control, and operator training.

Essential Functions

• Review performance against key process parameters to establish process capabilities, which includes regular review of SPC data.
• Review and approve Homogenization cycles, furnace surveys, and furnace related calibration reports.
• Disposition and close variances or upgrade to IRR if needed. Additionally track variances and IRR’s for root cause analysis.
• Support development and maintenance of forge tables and associated 4K ton press and GFM programs for toll conversion customers.
• Assist in the implementation of cost reductions, product improvement, process improvement and yield improvement processes with the process engineering team.
• Monitor product performance – properties, physical characteristics (length, straightness, surface condition) and yield.
• Create, maintain, and training on quality documents (CP’s, PC’s, SWI’s, OPL’s, Quality Alerts)
• Participate in internal SWI and 6S audits.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

Employee will have an associate’s degree in a technical field or equivalent education or experience. The employee should have a basic understanding of manufacturing processes and their expected outputs, experience within the metals manufacturing industry is a plus. The employee is expected to have adequate experience handling process data and understanding how to critically review processes for non-conformances.

The employee will also have the ability to prepare written reports and correspondence, the ability to build and maintain positive relationships internally and externally, the ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions in a manner consistent with the essential job functions, as well as strong written and verbal communication skills.
