Job summary

Ford Motor Company in Cincinnati, OH is seeking a highly skilled Controls Engineer to lead problem solving across plants and implementations, addressing tooling, equipment and conveyor performance issues. You will coordinate resources, validate root causes, and design robust fixes while maintaining safety standards.

You will work with PLC/CNC systems, AutoCAD schematics, vision systems, and plant networks, contribute to continuous improvement, and participate in training of manufacturing

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 2 or more years of Controls Engineering experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Controls or Automation Engineering
  • Electrical background preferred
  • Familiar with PLC/CNC (Siemens/ Allen-Bradley), VFD, Servo, Profinet, ABB and FANUC Robots
  • Solid understanding of laser burning
  • Demonstrated ability to read blueprints, modify electrical schematics and use AutoCAD
  • Verified ability to troubleshoot equipment and continuously evaluate for process improvements
  • Experience with conveyor system programming and overhead Gantry
  • Solid understanding of networking to include DH+, Ethernet and remote IO
  • Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma experience
  • Understanding of 8D, FMEA, and DMAIC processes
  • Familiar with TQM and Kaizen methods
  • One or more years of experience with MS Office (Word/Excel/PowerPoint/Outlook)
  • Knowledge of simulation modeling and visual factory management preferred

  • Assist in training manufacturing personnel and plant electricians
  • Read and modify electrical prints and schematics, Auto CAD
  • Maintain familiarity with OA, CPN/MPN networks and communication protocols for connecting to wireless and wired networks
  • Manage installation and maintenance of virus protection software for controls network PCs, perform PC backup disc images and installation of communication and firmware and controls software
  • Work overtime and weekends as needed

Job Description

In this position...

Lead problem solving to assist plants and implementation teams in resolving tooling, equipment and conveyor performance issues and downtime.

Responsibilities

What you'll do...

Coordinate resources to find root cause and fixes, manage and breakdown problems into items that can be validated. Determine proper validation methods.

Handle setup and maintenance of industrial bar code printers

Utilize sound knowledge design and implement vision control systems. Familiar with different type of vision cameras and their programing software. Continuously evaluate equipment for improvement for quality and delivery

Qualifications

2 or more years of Controls Engineering experience (internship and coop experience will be considered)

Even better, you may have...

Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Controls or Automation Engineering

Electrical background (electrician or technician) preferred

Familiar with PLC/CNC (Siemens/ Allen-Bradley), VFD, Servo, Profinet, ABB and FANUC Robots

This position is a salary grade 6 and ranges from $72,480-121,440.

This position is a salary grade 7 and ranges from $84,480-141,360.

This position is a salary grade 8 and ranges from $96,720-162,120.
