Job summary

Ford in Louisville, KY is seeking a skilled Controls Engineer to lead problem-solving efforts across tooling, equipment, and conveyors. You will coordinate resources to identify root causes, validate fixes, and manage setups and maintenance of industrial barcode printers.

You will design and implement vision control systems and continuously evaluate equipment for quality and delivery. You will reprogram equipment for engineering changes, update backups, program new installations of automation

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • 2+ years of controls engineering experience (internships counted).
  • 5x8 schedule with flexibility for overtime/shifts.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate resources to find root cause and fixes, break down problems into validated items.
  • Handle setup and maintenance of industrial barcode printers.
  • Design and implement vision control systems; work with vision cameras and software.
  • Review cycle times with plant monitoring software and follow up on installations.
  • Reprogram equipment for engineering changes and improvements.
  • Update program backups for machinery and automation.
  • Program new installations of automation, machinery, material handling, and robots.
  • Review risk assessments and evaluate equipment safety as part of a team.
  • Assist in training manufacturing personnel and plant electricians.
  • Read and modify electrical prints and schematics; utilize AutoCAD.

In this position...

Lead problem-solving to assist plants and implementation teams in resolving tooling, equipment and conveyor performance issues and downtime.

What you'll do...
  • Coordinate resources to find root cause and fixes, manage and breakdown problems into items that can be validated. Determine proper validation methods
  • Handle setup and maintenance of industrial bar code printers
  • Utilize sound knowledge design and implement vision control systems. Familiar with different type of vision cameras and their programing software. Continuously evaluate equipment for improvement for quality and delivery
  • Use FIS plant monitoring software to review cycle times of equipment, review and follow up project installations
  • Reprogram equipment for engineering changes and improvements
  • Update program backups for machinery and automation
  • Program new installations of automation, machinery, material handling, and robots
  • As part of a team, review risk assessments and evaluate equipment safety
  • Assist in training manufacturing personnel and plant electricians
  • Read and modify electrical prints and schematics, Auto CAD
  • Maintain familiarity with OA, CPN/MPN networks and communication protocols for connecting to wireless and wired networks
  • Manage installation and maintenance of virus protection software for controls network PCs, perform PC backup disc images and installation of communication and firmware and controls software
  • Work overtime and weekends as needed
You’ll have...
  • High school diploma or GED Required
  • 2 or more years of Controls Engineering experience (internship and coop experience will be considered)
  • 5x8 schedule (days/nights), with flexibility to work additional hours/shifts as needed.
Even better, you may have...
  • Bachelors Degree
  • Electrical background (electrician or technician) preferred
  • Familiar with PLC/CNC (Siemens/ Allen-Bradley), VFD, Servo, Profinet, ABB and FANUC Robots
  • Solid understanding of laser burning
  • Demonstrated ability to read blueprints, modify electrical schematics and use AutoCAD
  • Validated ability to troubleshoot equipment and continuously evaluate for process improvements
  • Experience with conveyor system programming and overhead Gantry
  • Solid understanding of networking to include DH+, Ethernet and remote IO
  • Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma experience
  • Lean Tools – 5S, Kanban, Poka-Yoke, Value Stream Mapping experience
  • Understanding of 8D, FMEA, and DMAIC processes
  • Familiar with TQM and Kaizen methods
  • One or more years of experience with MS Office (Word/Excel/PowerPoint/Outlook)
  • Knowledge of simulation modeling and visual factory management preferred

This position is a salary grade 7 and ranges from $84,480-141,360.

This position is a salary grade 8 and ranges from $96,720-162,120.
