Job summary

Ayres is seeking an Engineering Services Manager in Eau Claire, WI, to lead a diverse engineering team delivering consulting services across markets. You will provide leadership, develop staff, and drive growth while ensuring high-quality client service and project delivery.

You’ll partner with senior leadership on strategic goals, monitor workloads, budgets, and performance, and engage in business development and client engagement to expand market presence.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
• 8–10 years of consulting experience in A/E/C.
• Team leadership, employee development, client relationship management, and project management.
• Ability to lead teams, prioritize demands, and delegate responsibilities.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Willingness to travel periodically.
• Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support a team of engineering professionals, fostering collaboration, accountability, quality, and client service.
• Partner with senior leadership to implement strategic goals and initiatives within the Engineering Services team.
• Monitor workload, staffing, and project performance to align resources with business objectives.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, revenue recognition, and financial performance tracking.
• Develop and maintain client relationships and pursue business development opportunities.

• Assist with recruiting, onboarding, and retention efforts.
• Represent Ayres in professional organizations and industry events to strengthen client relationships.

Through your leadership, business acumen, and commitment to quality, you'll play a key role in advancing team performance, supporting strategic initiatives, and contributing to the continued success of the division.

On any given day, you'll:

• Lead and support a team of engineering professionals, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, quality, and client service.
• Partner with senior leadership to implement strategic goals and operational initiatives within the Engineering Services team.
• Monitor team workload, staffing needs, and project performance to ensure resources are effectively aligned with business objectives.
• Support budget management, forecasting, revenue recognition, and financial performance tracking for assigned areas of responsibility.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, partners, and industry stakeholders.
• Participate in business development efforts, including client engagement, proposal development, and marketing initiatives.
• Identify opportunities for growth within existing and emerging markets.
• Mentor, coach, and develop team members, supporting career growth and succession planning.
• Promote a positive employee experience by encouraging engagement, communication, and professional development.
• Ensure compliance with Ayres policies, quality standards, and project delivery processes.
• Collaborate with managers and leaders across the organization to support strategic initiatives and cross-functional opportunities.
• Oversee project execution to ensure work is delivered on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with quality expectations.
• Review and support contract negotiations, project scopes, schedules, and fee proposals.
• Assist with recruiting, hiring, onboarding, and retention efforts to build and maintain a strong team.
• Represent Ayres within professional organizations and industry events to strengthen client relationships and increase brand visibility.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field
• Consulting experience within the A/E/C industry.
• Minimum of 8-10 years of progressively responsible experience, including:

• Team leadership and employee development.
• Client relationship management and business development.
• Project management.

• Demonstrated ability to lead teams, prioritize competing demands, and effectively delegate responsibilities.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and relationship-building skills.
• Willingness to travel periodically to support clients, projects, and team members.
• Valid driver’s license with a good driving record

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
• Proven success leading teams and delivering profitable projects.
• Experience managing budgets, staffing plans, workload forecasting, and project financial performance.
• Ability to collaborate across technical disciplines and support cross-selling opportunities.
• Strong business development, marketing, and client service experience.
• Experience recruiting, mentoring, and developing technical professionals.
• Ability to identify growth opportunities and implement strategies to expand services and market presence.
• Active participation in professional organizations and industry associations.
