The City of New York's Department of Buildings seeks an Assistant Commissioner to lead engineering services and set strategic direction for cranes, safety, and construction code enforcement. You will supervise senior engineers, coordinate with City agencies, and testify on policy matters.

Residency is required; remote work up to 2 days per week under the agency program is possible, and you will manage multi-unit teams in a large city organization with a focus on public safety and regulatory

Competenze

• Bachelor's degree in engineering; 4+ years in engineering related to building design/construction.
• At least 18 months in administrative, managerial, executive or supervisory capacity.

Mansioni

• Oversee long-term planning and strategic development of four units: Cranes & Derricks, Construction Safety Engineering, Concrete Enforcement Engineering, and Sidewalk Shed Construction Progress Monitoring.
• Analyze engineering protocols and train senior staff within the DOB.
• Coordinate policy and code revisions related to construction safety and cranes & derricks.
• Audit construction documents for compliance with codes and regulations.
