Job summary

Philadelphia Gas Works (PGW) invites engineering students to join its internship program across Field Operations, Engineering and Gas Processing. The program is designed for students enrolled full-time at accredited colleges, with opportunities during the academic year and summer.

Interns will support safety, data tracking, and procedure development, with potential field visits and cross-team collaboration; candidates should commit to 15-20 hours per week and maintain good academic standing.

Qualifications

• Be a full-time student currently enrolled in an accredited university or college.
• Pursuing a degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or other relevant field of study.
• Have a sophomore classification or above.
• Be in good academic standing.
• Be able to commit to 15-20 hours per week to the program (year-round interns).
• Previous internship experience is preferred.
• Strong analytical and computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Review injury and motor vehicle accident reports from the field for accuracy and tracking to find trends
• Electronic filing of all training documents using an established naming convention
• Assisting in the creation and refinement of Microsoft Excel sheets that use code and formulas to track employee Training and Qualification status
• Review current work procedures and updating safety protocols or developing new procedures altogether
• Trips into the field riding with a Safety Supervisor to observe how our work is performed on a day to day basis
• Assigned unique projects that could include collaborative work with other interns, Supervisors or Engineers from other sections inside or outside of Field Operations
