Job summary

AAON, Inc. is seeking a Quality Engineer to drive QMS compliance and improvement initiatives across our product lines. You will monitor and analyze quality data to root out causes and enforce corrective actions, while working with engineering and operations to maintain process adherence.

You will supervise QA team members as needed and contribute to a culture of quality across the organization, including liaising with suppliers and customers to ensure standards are met.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Quality Management, Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Mechanical, Electrical, Computer, or Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
  • ASQ CQE Certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and update the Quality Manual and participate in its annual review.
  • Lead monthly Quality reporting to Senior and Executive Leadership and customer meetings.
  • Develop quality control systems to meet customer specs and performance requirements.
  • Use statistical and root cause analysis to review failures and drive improvements.
  • Propose improvements and assist in implementing changes.
  • Create and oversee quality standards/metrics development.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Sales, Warranty and Field Service to resolve customer issues.

Job Description:

Quality Engineers (QEs) are responsible for driving QMS compliance and improvement opportunities to ensure our products meet customer and engineering specifications. QEs will monitor and analyze performance and quality data from various sources to drive root cause/corrective actions and process adherence. QEs will proactively work with other departments and teams to foster and maintain a company-wide quality culture. A QE may be assigned to supervise other team members in the QA department.

Primary Duties:
  • Works with Quality Management to maintain the Quality Manual and participates in annual review and updates of the Quality Manual.
  • Participates in yearly department strategic planning sessions, monthly Quality reporting to Senior and Executive Leadership, and customer facing meetings.
  • Develops quality control systems designed to ensure final products meet customer specifications and performance requirements.
  • Utilizes statistical and root cause analysis to review current and past failures.
  • Provides suggestions for improvements and assists in implementing changes.
  • Creates, implements, and oversees the development of quality standards/metrics.
  • Works with Engineering, Sales, Warranty, and Field Service personnel to resolve customer complaints and address field service technical problems.
  • Plans, coordinates, analyzes, and reports quality issues, key performance indicators and continuous improvement activities.
  • Ensures follow-up on improvements, corrective actions and activities related to customer complaints and reports to the customer the status of the actions.
  • Works with other departments and outside manufacturers to ensure that purchased and manufactured parts meet engineering and customer specifications/standards.
  • Supervisory responsibilities include directing workflow, managing schedules, and providing coaching, feedback and disciplinary actions as required to assigned subordinates.
Job Requirements Education and Experience Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Quality Management, Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Mechanical, Electrical, Computer, or Industrial Engineering, or a related field.

License(s) and Certification(s):
  • Experience in Quality (ASQ CQE Certification), ISO, Lean, Statistical Process Control, Auditing, HVAC, and Continuous Improvement methodologies are preferred.
  • Certification as a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt is preferred but not required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Experience with SAP modules such as EWM (Extended Warehouse Management) or IM (Inventory Management).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Power BI for data analysis and reporting.

Essential Physical Functions:
  • Lift up to 50lbs.
  • Sit or stand for up to 95 percent of work hours.

Periodic visits to the manufacturing facility with seasonal hot and cold temperatures, dust, and some chemical fume exposure. This position requires occasional travel as part of its responsibilities. Travel for this role is required. English proficiency is mandatory.

Work Environment:

Work is performed in a combination of climate-controlled office setting and may require frequent exposure to the manufacturing production floor, laboratory, and field environments. Will be required to wear proper personal protective equipment and follow all safety procedures. May be called into work outside of normal work hours or work extended hours in emergency situations. Work requires regular domestic travel to customer sites, service locations, manufacturing facilities, and suppliers, including overnight stays. Ability to work in production and service environments while following all safety requirements.
