Job summary

BETA Technologies in Vermont is seeking an Engineering Technician to help design, assemble, and test electric motor systems for R&D and flight validation. You will rapidly adapt to new developments while delivering quick build turnaround in a collaborative environment.

You will work hands-on with motors, tooling, and documentation, performing quality checks and safety practices around high voltage, and contributing to manufacturing processes and continuous improvement across the propulsion

Responsibilities

  • Assemble or repair electric motors and update build records.
  • Support motor testing and flight test setups.
  • Perform testing, validation, troubleshooting and manufacturing processes with design engineers.
  • Edit and implement technical documentation.
  • Conduct in-process quality inspections and address deviations.
  • Maintain build logs and use word processing/spreadsheets.
  • Develop expertise in electro-mechanical assembly of propulsion systems.
  • Uphold safety around high voltage.

Job description

Engineering technicians are critical to the BETA mission, ensuring Electronic Motors (EPU) are designed, built, and tested appropriately to support R&D, flight testing, and other validation needs. As the design develops, engineering technicians will be responsible for rapidly understanding and adjusting to new developments while maintaining quick assembly turnaround.

How you will contribute to revolutionizing electric aviation
  • Hands-on assembly or repair of electric motors including redlining engineering drawings and creating build records
  • Support electric motor testing by taking component measurements, assembling test equipment, installing/removing motors from test equipment, and supporting flight test
  • Perform testing, validation, troubleshooting, and manufacturing processes in concert with design engineers
  • Assist in editing and implementing technical documentation
  • Performing in-process quality inspection tasks, feeling comfortable identifying and raising concern about process deviations and being an integral part of any troubleshooting efforts to solve them
  • Maintaining logs and check sheets throughout the build process, which requires proficiency in word processing and spreadsheet software
  • Develop your expertise concerning electro-mechanical assembly of fully electric propulsion systems
  • Respect and foster a culture of safety, including working safely around high voltage
Minimum Qualifications

Above and Beyond Qualifications
  • Previous experience building electric motors
  • Previous Computer-Aided Design (CAD) experience – Specifically 3DX/Catia
  • Technical knowledge of electrical systems ranging from 24 VDC to 800 VDC
  • Two-year degree or certificate from an accredited two (2) year college, university, or technical school

Compensation

$26 - $35 USD

BETA offers a competitive Total Compensation package designed to support you now and as you grow with us. This role includes both Restricted Stock Units and Performance Stock Units for all full-time team members, so everyone shares in our success.
