Job summary

LS Gallegos & Associates Inc. invites applications for the Engineering Project Manager / Construction Manager role in Colorado Springs.

The position leads project development and construction management to deliver on time, within budget, and to quality standards, representing the business and client interests. Responsibilities include overseeing construction, contract review, budget and schedule control, and coordination with city staff and stakeholders; a BS/MS in civil/structural engineering

Qualifications

  • BS or MS in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or Construction Management.
  • 5+ years’ experience in project management or construction management.
  • PE License preferred; CCM certification a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all aspects of construction projects acting as owners representative.
  • Review, track, and respond to RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, change orders, schedule submittals, pay apps and CO requests.
  • Oversee preconstruction activities, review contractor method statements and contract documents.
  • Manage team of construction inspectors and assist field modifications.
  • Develop project scope for bridge maintenance and rehab projects.
  • Track and control construction budget and schedule.
  • Communicate project details and public impacts with City Public Communications Staff.
  • Perform constructability reviews of in-design projects.
  • Assist in developing plans to bid.

Position Overview:

The Engineering Project Manager / Construction Manager will lead project development and construction management in order to construct projects on time, within budget and to the quality specified. In the performance of this function the Engineering Project Manager / Construction Manager is responsible for protecting and acting in the best interests of both the business and client in all matters.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee all aspects of construction projects acting as owners representative
  • Review, Track, and Respond to Contractor RFIs, Submittals, shop drawings, change orders, schedule submittals, pay applications and change order requests
  • Oversee preconstruction activities, review and approve contractor method statements, review contract documents
  • Manage team of construction inspectors
  • Assist the construction team with field modifications and conceptual design
  • Develop project scope for bridge maintenance and rehabilitation projects
  • Track and control construction budget and schedule
  • Communicate project details and public impacts with City Public Communications Staff
  • Perform constructability reviews of in-design projects
  • Assist in developing plans to bid
Coordinate with various stakeholders including but not limited to:

Stormwater Enterprise

Colorado Springs Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Services

  • Oversee post-construction closeout, including final deliverables, punch lists, warranty, and invoicing
Qualifications:
  • BS OR MS degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or Construction Management
  • 5+ years’ experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • PE License is preferred
  • Construction Manager Certification (CCM) is a plus
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Accountable for making field decisions on construction projects
  • Strong proficiency in post-construction condition assessment
  • Effective in managing construction inspectors and contractors
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs
  • Proficient in Bluebeam
