Job Summary

The Engineering Project Manager is responsible for the safe, timely, and cost-effective execution of capital projects within aluminum extrusion, fabrication, and billet casting facilities. Typical project scope ranges from $1M to $40M and may include equipment refurbishments and new installations. All projects are developed and executed following Hydro's Capital Value Process (CVP).

This role ensures compliance with all Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policies, regulations, and standards. The Engineering Project Manager oversees plant operations to support profitability and strategic goals, including updating operational policies, managing daily activities, improving operational efficiency (OPEX), executing capital initiatives, and optimizing raw material use.

Minimum Education/Experience

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.

Preferred Skills/Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, preferably electrical, and/or 5+ years of heavy manufacturing experience.
• Experience with PLC programming and Functional Safety Engineering is a plus.
• Background in engineering and/or manufacturing project management.
• Experience with Microsoft Project.
• Ability to manage AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks drawings for reviews and project management.
• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles, including waste reduction.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute capital projects safely, on time, and within budget.
• Manage projects from concept to hand-off to plant operations.
• Lead cross-functional teams towards project goals.
• Travel to vendor and supplier sites (domestic and international) as required.
• Spend approximately 3 out of 4 weeks each month at the plant site, engaging with the project team and overseeing construction and start-up activities.
• Ensure proper and safe operation of equipment and processes.
• Propose and implement changes to improve manufacturing value.
• Ensure processes meet delivery and cost targets with sufficient controls.
• Be on the shop floor when needed, assess progress, issues, and solutions, accessing equipment via ladders, high reaches, etc.
• Travel up to 80% depending on project needs.
