J MAR’s client, a well-capitalized, entrepreneurial midstream energy company with a proven history of successfully building, operating, and monetizing midstream assets, is seeking an experienced Engineering Project Manager to join its growing Houston team.
This position will lead small-to-medium capital, growth, operational, and maintenance projects across the company’s expanding natural gas gathering, processing, and pipeline infrastructure. Projects will include natural gas processing and cryogenic facilities, pipelines, gas treating and compression facilities, measurement and control systems, and related process equipment.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Plan, lead, and manage natural gas processing/cryo, pipeline, gas treating, compression, measurement/control, and related midstream infrastructure projects from initial development through completion.
- Lead project scoping, engineering, estimating, budgeting, scheduling, procurement, construction, commissioning, startup, and closeout, including project execution plans, cost controls, forecasting, and change-management/MOC processes.
- Review engineering drawings, specifications, technical studies, permits, contracts, bid documents, and other project documentation.
- Oversee construction through mechanical completion, pre-commissioning, commissioning, startup, and project closeout.
- Coordinate closely with Engineering, Operations, Construction, EHS&R, Supply Chain, and leadership to resolve issues and support successful project execution.
- Manage external engineering firms, vendors, contractors, subcontractors, and other project resources.
- Lead or participate in PSM activities, including HAZOPs, Pre-Startup Safety Reviews, PSV studies, equipment inspections, and related safety and regulatory reviews.
- Monitor project performance, identify risks, resolve technical and execution issues, and recommend changes to schedule, cost, resources, or execution strategy as needed.
- Provide regular project updates to leadership and key stakeholders.
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Civil, or a closely related engineering discipline.
- Progressive engineering and project experience working for a midstream owner/operator.
- Must have project experience across both natural gas processing facilities and pipeline infrastructure, including cryogenic gas processing facilities.
- Experience with gas treating, compression, measurement/control systems, and related natural gas processing equipment.
- Full project lifecycle experience, including scoping, engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and startup.
- Experience with greenfield and brownfield midstream capital projects and facilities construction.
- Ability to independently manage projects and coordinate internal and external resources in a lean, hands‑on operating environment.
- PMP certification and experience with Aspen HYSYS, BR&E ProMax, PipeSim, or similar process‑simulation software are pluses.
- Travel to the company’s Williston, North Dakota area field office and operating assets as needed.
