Job summary

You will be the inaugural engineer in this role, collaborating directly with the co-founders to scale the development process as the team grows. This on-site position emphasizes craft and precision across ~10 new products yearly.

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years bringing physical consumer products from prototype to mass production, including program leadership.
• Hands-on experience leading factory partners through engineering and production builds.
• Strong grasp of tolerances, materials and manufacturing processes.
• Candor, sound judgment and clear, concise writing.
• Ability to travel internationally up to 15% of the year.

Responsibilities

• Drive execution of product programs against technical and business goals.
• Own development schedules, decision milestones, dependencies and critical paths.
• Champion mechanical design requirements, so factories build to tolerances and specifications.
• Coordinate design, engineering, operations, marketing and factory partners from kickoff.
• Lead prototype and build phases (EVT, DVT and PVT), including component readiness and validation.
• Identify technical, material and logistics risks and drive them to resolution.
• Manage program budgets, scope changes and product cost against target.
• Oversee the timely release of parts and final designs.
• Report program status, risks and decisions to the team and leadership each week.
• Improve the product development process used by internal and external teams.
