Job summary

Advanced Energy in Eden Prairie, MN is seeking an Engineering Planner I to support New Product Introduction planning, scheduling, and material coordination across Engineering, Supply Chain, Quality, Manufacturing, and Product Management. You will ensure material availability and align schedules to drive successful PDP deliverables, while learning ERP and SAP-based processes under supervision.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Operations Management, Finance, Materials Management, Supply Chain, Engineering, or equivalent education.
• APICS or CPM certification or other international certification preferred.
• Experience in purchasing/planning environment is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate production plans for new products ensuring material availability to meet project schedules.
• Monitor schedules and coordinate material availability to support on-time delivery goals.
• Resolve capacity, material constraints and schedule interruptions.
• Approve unit quantities, schedules, and parts lists for timely material ordering and release.
• Coordinate and implement NPI Engineering Change Orders (ECOs).
• Maintain BOMs in SAP with engineering.
• Manage release of parts and work orders to production.
• Create and maintain purchase requests and internal transfer orders.
• Support PDP progression through planning, scheduling, and tracking.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Engineering Planner I is responsible for supporting New Product Introduction (NPI) planning, scheduling, and material coordination activities required to successfully design, build, and transfer products from Advanced Energy's global development centers into manufacturing. This role partners with Engineering, Supply Chain, Quality, Manufacturing, and Product Management teams to ensure material availability, schedule alignment, and successful execution of project deliverables throughout the Product Development Process (PDP). The Engineering Planner I works under general supervision while developing expertise in planning, scheduling, ERP systems, and new product introduction processes.

• Coordinates production plans for new products ensuring availability of material to meet project schedules.
• Supports achievement of on-time delivery goals by monitoring schedules and coordinating material availability.
• Works to resolve capacity, material constraints and other potential schedule interruptions
• Approves unit quantities, schedules and parts lists provided to the material control organization to ensure timely and complete ordering, as well as receipt and issuance of production material requirements
• Coordinates and implements NPI Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) in accordance with established processes.
• Coordinates with engineering to create and maintain Bill of Material (BOM’s) in SAP
• Manages the release of parts, modules, and/or units to appropriate department in production
• Creates and maintains work orders, purchase requests and internal transfer orders
• Supports planning, scheduling, coordination, and tracking of products through the Product Development Process (PDP).

WORK ENVIRONMENT

• Location: Eden Prairie, MN
• Works in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities and project schedules.
• Works in a standard office environment and uses general office equipment
• Must be able to navigate through the production and engineering environment, following the processes and procedures dictated in manufacturing and engineering
• Works in both office and engineering/manufacturing environments as required to support projects and production activities.
• The product being produced might have high voltage and current conditions; appropriate precautions must be observed

QUALIFICATIONS

• Ability to lead, plan and support the team related to any material management
• Excellent Communication skills, both verbal and written; ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, engineers and peers
• Ability to define problems, establish facts, and draw valid conclusionsDemonstrated proficiency with Windows-based platforms and with computer-based tools, including working knowledge of Database, Spreadsheet, and Word Processing software
• Ability to multitask and work to strict deadlines within a fast-paced environment

EXPERIENCE

• 0-2 years in Purchasing/Planning environment
• Basic understanding of manufacturing planning/scheduling and the processes associated with MRP/ERP
• Previous experience with SAP desired or preferred
• Experience working in a team and group setting with upper-level managers
• Exposure to planning, scheduling, inventory management, project coordination, or related business processes.
• Embrace new technology and demonstrate an understanding of computer based systems/equipment.

EDUCATION

• Bachelor of Science degree in Operations Management, Finance, Materials Management, Supply Chain, Engineering, or equivalent education required
• American Production and Inventory Control Society (APICS) or Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM) certification or other international certification, preferred

COMPENSATION

As required by multiple state pay transparency laws, Advanced Energy provides a reasonable range of compensation for each job posting. Actual compensation is influenced by an array of factors including, but not limited to, skill set, level of experience, and specific office location. The range of starting pay for this role is $60,000 to $75,000 per year.
