Job summary

Genex Systems is seeking an Engineering Operations Technician I to support the Federal Highway Administration’s Western Federal Lands Highway Division in Vancouver, WA. The role emphasizes file management, reporting, and closeout activities for construction projects.

You will work on databases (Access/Excel/Oracle), process contractor payments, prepare reports, and assist with training and SOP updates to ensure project success and compliance with standards.

Qualifications

• Minimum of one year of college coursework toward an Associate’s Degree in Civil Engineering Technology or related field.
• At least one year of progressive experience in construction project administration with a general contractor or civil/architectural construction PM firm, including Federal/local projects.
• Working knowledge of construction tech, terminology, scheduling, practices, costs, materials, and equipment.
• Experience managing database applications and document controls.
• Understanding of construction financial reporting.
• Proficiency in word processing and in developing and maintaining spreadsheets and databases.
• Demonstrated skill in analyzing, planning, and coordinating business activities.

Responsibilities

• Maintain branch and project records and electronic files: photocopying, scanning, distributing, reviewing, organizing, and tracking documents, plans, specs, and regulatory information.
• Manage database entry and reporting using Access, Excel, OneNote, Oracle; pull data from field notes, reports, and other sources; run reports as needed.
• Route, distribute, and enter monthly contractor payment information into the branch’s construction data management software; track funding reconciliation reports.
• Prepare and revise contract and construction report documents; draft contract correspondence for Government signature.
• Support Construction Branch training coordination: maintenance of matrices, calendars, agendas; prepare presentations and certificates; track attendance.
• Build and maintain complex spreadsheets to track Branch information, pricing indices, and project data.
• Assist with updating the WFLHD Construction Manual and SOPs under COR direction; ensure order and terminology standards.
• Support project closeout by reviewing data for accuracy and preparing summarized closeout reports.
