The Engineering Operations Technician (EOT) Team plays a vital role in Amazon Web Services (AWS) Infrastructure Operations organization, supporting the rapid growth of our business and customers 24/7 in Cloud services data centers. As part of the Data Center Engineering Operations (DCEO) organization, this position reports to the DCEO Manager.

We are looking for a highly self-motivated and self-managed individual interested in learning about and managing AWS operations within critical facilities owned and operated by Colocation Providers. The Colocation provider is a third-party data center facility partner who provides the physical infrastructure, space, power, and cooling systems for AWS servers. Candidate with less experience will be trained to manage critical facility operations within colocation provider environments.

The EOT is responsible for coordinating with the Colocation Provider in operating and maintaining their critical electrical and mechanical (E&M) equipment to ensure highest availability for our Cloud services. The E&M equipment includes, but is not limited to, stand-by diesel generators, HV/LV switchgear, UPS’s, Batteries, PDU’s, chillers, cooling towers, pumps, motors, CRAHs, PLC Controls Building Monitoring Systems and fire suppression systems. Additionally, the EOT serves as a front-line technical support responders for E&M facilities across multiple sites, and manage rack power-up and rack-down events for their own data center.

Key job responsibilities
• Maintain 24/7 operations coverage with flexible scheduling, including predefined12-hour rotating shifts and on-call responsibilities.
• Coordinate with Colocation providers, contractors and internal teams for daily operations and routine maintenance monitoring of critical E&M facilities.
• Participate in emergency drills and support emergency facility event response according to established protocols.
• Act as first responder for all critical E&M equipment and rack down event alarm response, ensuring timely escalation for equipment/facilities-related issues within established protocols and service level agreements (SLAs).
• Facilitate equipment rack power up installations with Colocation providers by conducting assessments for rack space, power, and cooling requirements in data centers.
• Regularly maintain critical facility safety and security standards in AWS areas.
• Execute small-to-medium impacting projects from inception stage to completion stage to enhance data center operations.
• Utilize of AWS administrative tools for maintenance change management, incident management ticketing follow up, and asset management.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- Bachelor's degree

- Intermediate level of bilingual verbal and written communication skills (English and Chinese).

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- 1+ years of data center engineering experience
- Knowledge of mechanical systems (Mechanical, HVAC systems, Controls)
- Knowledge of key electrical competencies and theory
