Description

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on the most challenging problems and are looking for talented people to help.

You’ll join a diverse team of engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, and operations managers. You’ll collaborate across AWS to uphold safety and security standards while providing high capacity at low cost, fostering an inclusive culture that empowers bold ideas.

Responsibilities
  • Operate and maintain mechanical, electrical, generator, and fire/life safety equipment within the data center
  • Troubleshoot facility equipment and rack-level events within internal SLAs
  • Perform limited maintenance tasks such as filter changes, HVAC PMs, rack power installs, and PDU replacements
  • Support Data Center Operations technicians
  • Conduct root cause analysis of equipment failures
  • Ensure safety procedures are followed
  • Write operational procedures
  • Work 12-hour shifts on a rotating schedule (days or nights)
  • Take daily readings of mechanical and electrical equipment (temperatures, voltages, currents)
  • Manage workflows and spare parts using internal CMMS
  • Supervise contractors performing maintenance
  • Respond to emergency calls during on-call shifts
  • Follow all security procedures
  • Drive operational cost reductions and innovation
  • Manipulate small wires and objects
Physical Tasks
  • Walk uneven terrain
  • Work at heights and from ladders
  • Lift/move up to 39 pounds; assist with heavier lifts
  • Bend, twist, push, pull objects
  • Work in noisy environments

This position requires US citizenship and an active TS/SCI security clearance with polygraph.

Basic Qualifications
  • 4+ years of maintenance and repair experience on mechanical and electrical equipment
  • Experience operating electrical and mechanical systems in mission-critical environments
  • Familiarity with building management systems (BMS/EPMS)
Preferred Qualifications
  • 2+ years of data center engineering experience
  • Associate’s Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or relevant discipline
  • 4+ years of data center engineering experience, including network design and low voltage cabling
  • Familiarity with BMS and EPMS control systems and maintenance management software
  • Operating engineering licenses (e.g., DC II, DC III, Journeyman License), CFC, NFPA 70E certification
