Job Overview

You would work with teams of front-line responders supporting the operations of some of the world’s most powerful data centers. Our Data Center Engineering Operations team maintains and operates critical infrastructure systems to ensure they are prepared for any situation.

About AWS

AWS has the world’s largest cloud computing portfolio. As an Amazonian, you will work in some of the most sophisticated, safe, and secure data centers. Our Engineering Operations Technicians (EOTs) help maintain these facilities by testing and implementing new technology and work practices to meet market demands.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Perform daily building rounds to monitor electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment ensuring 24/7 reliability
  2. Monitor Building Management Systems (BMS) and Electrical Power Management System (EPMS)
  3. Assist in troubleshooting facility and rack-level events within SLAs
  4. Perform rack installs and decommissioning within SLAs
  5. Conduct preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and repairs of electrical and mechanical equipment
  6. Support change management with technical documentation
  7. Manage daily work requests from initiation to resolution and execute projects from start to finish
  8. Support on-site contractors, ensuring compliance with practices, procedures, and legislation
  9. Work schedule may include up to 12-hour shifts, rotation, and on-call duties
  10. Support multiple locations/sites as needed
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to work in conditions requiring reasonable accommodations
  • Lift and move up to 39 pounds regularly
  • Participate in group lifts for over 40 pounds
  • Maintain balance and perform tasks on ladders
  • Perform various physical activities including walking, reaching, stooping, kneeling, climbing, and handling objects
  • Use provided ear protection in noisy environments
A Day in the Life

This role involves hands-on electrical and mechanical maintenance and troubleshooting of mission-critical data center equipment, reporting to the Facility Manager. Equipment includes generators, electrical systems, cooling units, fire safety systems, and more.

Basic Qualifications
  • Technical training or 2+ years of electrical, mechanical, HVAC, or fire system experience in mission-critical infrastructure
  • 2+ years of experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • High school diploma or equivalent
Preferred Qualifications
  • 4+ years of Data Center Engineering experience
  • Associates or Bachelor’s Degree
