About the role

Responsibilities

1. Build and lead a globally distributed team of engineers.
2. Develop talent through coaching, mentoring, feedback, and career development.
3. Define the vision and strategy for Ubuntu and your team in collaboration with Product Management.
4. Manage expectations with engineering teams, management, and external stakeholders.
5. Promote and implement modern, agile software development practices.
6. Foster a collaborative engineering culture aligned with company values.
7. Participate actively in leadership and engineering review processes.
8. Engage with the open source community and partners.
9. Oversee quality and delivery of Ubuntu Server features.
10. Travel up to 6 weeks per year for internal and external events.

Qualifications

1. Experience in developing and growing engineering teams.
2. Strong knowledge of software development and open source ecosystems.
3. At least 3+ years of leadership experience managing software developers, including distributed teams.
4. Proficiency in agile methodologies.
5. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, STEM, or equivalent.
6. Excellent communication skills in English.
7. Experience with GNU/Linux distributions, preferably Debian or Ubuntu.
8. Practical experience with cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, or AWS.
