Job summary

Mapbox is seeking an Engineering Manager for the Traffic Events Detection team. You will lead a high-performing, multi-disciplinary group delivering events detection solutions with scalable backends, data pipelines, and AI-driven workflows.

You will mentor engineers, manage day-to-day delivery, and align work with company priorities to serve billions of real-time requests daily. You will drive hiring, coaching, and technical excellence, ensuring robust, reliable software and a data-driven

Qualifications

• 5+ years of people management experience leading remote engineering teams
• Ability to hire diverse talent and foster growth within the team
• Deep knowledge of building scalable web services and data pipelines on AWS
• Drive culture of quality, monitoring, metrics, triage, and continuous improvement
• Own the vision, strategy, and execution for your product area
• Strong customer focus and ability to translate problems into solutions
• Strong written and verbal communication for diverse audiences

Responsibilities

• Lead multi-disciplinary teams building the Events Detection product using high-scale backends and AI workflows
• Own day-to-day team delivery, mentorship, and career development
• Manage on-call duties and operational best practices
• Collaborate with product and engineering to set long-term strategy
• Track and iterate on operational metrics to meet customer expectations
• Promote engineering best practices and cross-team collaboration
