Job description

This position has responsibility for the management of a geotechnical engineering team, consisting of both experienced and early‑career professionals, primarily focused on Renewable Energy. The role executes functional and/or operational plans with a short to mid‑term focus for the area of influence; manages experienced professionals who exercise latitude and independence in assignments; directs and appraises the work of subordinates; helps to resolve issues; participates in the hiring and selection process; and ensures appropriate training and resources are provided. This role operates with a high degree of autonomy and makes decisions that impact the functional area for situations that have a prior precedent, interprets policies (e.g., fiscal management, HR, contracts, resource management in defined areas), and demonstrates solid subject matter knowledge. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive department / business unit strategy that aligns with the company's goals and objectives.
  • Ensure communication and engagement of strategic direction and goals with key groups.
  • Develop and manage relationships with key stakeholders for the department / business unit.
  • Manage a team of professionals and provide regular reports and updates on the effectiveness of department / business unit efforts.
  • Accountable for the overall performance of the Renewable Energy team’s operational, client, and technical goals for personnel reporting through the Engineering and Testing and Drilling divisions.
  • Make decisions regarding items that apply to all personnel within the team you are leading (e.g., equipment, office engagement, local marketing).
  • Monitor financial performance of the Renewable Energy team by analyzing current and future unit activities, costs, and efficiency of operations, and provide feedback to management on a regular basis.
  • Objectively evaluate employee performance and establish and clarify goals for staff, ensuring those goals contain components of improving or enhancing technical or project management skills, and client service skill development.
  • Manage the appropriate personnel mix to achieve your team's goals (recruiting, hiring, firing).
  • Work with employees at all levels and, in particular other unit managers/leaders and marketing staff, to set direction for client‑related pursuits and marketing goals.
  • Direct client contracting in the office with respect to the Braun Intertec’s Authority Grant Policy.
  • Monitor individual employee project management skills specifically as they relate to financial performance of projects and client retention.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering required.
  • Licenses/Certificates: Texas PE required.
  • Experience and/or Training: Five years of progressive related professional experience, including at least three years of leadership experience.
  • Driver’s license.
  • Technology/Equipment: Microsoft Office.
  • Compensation: $88,000.00 – $131,000.00.
