Doctronic seeks an Engineering Manager to lead a product engineering team building AI-driven health guidance and physician-facing services. You will shape technical direction, turn ambiguous needs into reliable software, and own team health and delivery.
This is a hands-on role; you will contribute code, review changes, debug production issues, and ship with your team while guiding architecture and AI workflows.
DOCTRONIC | NEW YORK CITY OR SAN FRANCISCO (HYBRID) | FULL TIME
Doctronic gives people free, private access to AI health guidance and affordable visits with human physicians. Millions of consultations already flow through the product.
We are hiring an Engineering Manager to lead a team building Doctronic’s products and the AI systems behind them. You will develop engineers, shape technical direction, and turn ambiguous product needs into software that works reliably in production.
This is a hands‑on management role. You will work in the codebase, guide architecture, review changes, debug production issues, and ship alongside your team. You will be accountable for team health, technical quality, delivery, and the impact of what you build.
We expect engineering leaders to work AI‑natively. Coding agents are part of daily delivery across planning, implementation, testing, review, and debugging. You should have strong opinions grounded in practice about how to direct agents, validate their work, and help a team accomplish more with them. You remain responsible for the decisions and correctness of what ships.
Many candidates will have eight or more years of engineering experience, including two or more years managing engineers. We care more about the products you shipped, the engineers you developed, and your contribution to both than a specific degree, title, or exact tool match. Experience with AI products, agent orchestration, evaluation systems, healthcare, or another regulated field is useful but not required.
Our product includes a Next.js, React, and TypeScript web application; native iOS and Android apps written in Swift and Kotlin; and Python and FastAPI services. Backend systems use MariaDB, SQLAlchemy, Redis, and Celery. Services run in Docker on AWS ECS and integrate with AI providers, telehealth systems, healthcare APIs, and FHIR‑based workflows. You do not need experience with every part of the stack, but you should be comfortable learning unfamiliar systems and contributing across product and backend code.
At doctronic.ai http://doctronic.ai, people can receive free, private AI health guidance and connect with human physicians for affordable visits. We build products for patients, clinicians, and healthcare partners to help people move from questions about their health to care.
