AngelList is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead the Nova Product and own the TypeScript-based customer experience across subscriptions, data rooms, distributions, capital calls, and the LP wallet. This hands-on, player-coach role focuses on growing the team, aligning with product and design, and shaping technical vision under the Head of Nova Engineering.

You will hire and develop engineers, drive high-quality workflows in a high-stakes fintech context, and stay close to the code to unblock

Qualifications

• 2+ years of engineering management experience, including hiring, developing, and getting the best work from engineers.
• A record of shipping and scaling customer-facing products, ideally in complex domains where quality is critical.
• Experience with fintech, payments, or identity and KYC is a bonus.
• Experience with a modern TypeScript stack, or the ability to learn it quickly.
• Good startup judgment. You're comfortable with ambiguity and add enough process to help the team without over-building it.

About the Role

Nova is building the banking and payments network for private markets. Funds, fund administrators, and their investors use its software to manage subscriptions, capital calls, and distributions. Today, Nova supports $1.2B+ in deposits, $100M+ in weekly transfers across six bank integrations, and ~150k verified investors. These are some of the highest-stakes moments in the private markets. Fund managers, investors, and administrators are moving real money and expect every detail to be right. Nova earns and keeps the trust of GPs and LPs by meeting that expectation every time.

We’re looking for an Engineering Manager to lead and grow Nova Product. This team owns the TypeScript codebase for the entire customer experience, including subscriptions, data rooms, distributions, capital calls, and the emerging LP wallet and investor portal. This is a hands-on, player-coach role. You’ll spend most of your time growing the team, driving the roadmap with product and design partners, and setting the technical vision. You’ll stay close enough to the code to unblock and support the team, but you typically won’t write critical-path code. As the Product group grows, you’ll help shape how it is organized. You’ll report to the Head of Nova Engineering.

You Have

• Experience building in an environment with high stakes and strict compliance requirements, where every detail matters. Experience with fintech, payments, or identity and KYC is a bonus.
• Experience with a modern TypeScript stack, or the ability to learn it quickly.
• Good startup judgment. You're comfortable with ambiguity and add enough process to help the team without over-building it.

How Success Will Be Measured

• You’ve learned the team's systems and can discuss the full Nova product surface.
• Nova's flagship workflows, including subscriptions, distributions, and capital calls, are consistently high quality and increasingly self-service. For example, 95%+ of distributions complete end-to-end with zero manual intervention.
• New payments, wallet, and identity products ship on a clear, coherent architecture, and the product remains highly reliable as it scales.
• The team is healthy and growing. You’ve hired toward 5-7 engineers, and the team is clear on its roadmap.

AngelList has offices in a few cities, with our engineering hub in San Francisco. We’re building our engineering and product teams around this hub to make the most of in‑person collaboration. We have a hybrid in‑office model: teammates come in at least 2 days per week (Tuesdays and either Wednesday or Thursday).

Compensation: The compensation for this role consists of a competitive base salary, benefits, and equity package. The base salary for this role is $240,000+ annually but actual will vary based on a number of factors including a candidate’s professional background, experience, and location. Additional details about our Total Rewards package will be provided during the recruitment process.
