Job summary

Google in Sunnyvale, CA seeks a Software Engineering Manager to lead a multi-team effort building scalable systems for cloud, AI, and data center operations. You will guide engineers across projects, shape technical strategy, mentor talent, and collaborate with stakeholders to deliver high-impact software at scale.

As a manager, you will oversee project goals, drive product strategy, and help develop your team while coordinating across sites internationally and managing a large product budget.

Responsibilities

• Lead and guide a team of software engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence, accountability and professional growth.
• Drive the technical strategy, design, and roadmap for a suite of software systems.
• Be the primary interface to internal stakeholders, especially including representatives of user and partner engineering teams, to understand workflows, negotiate priorities and technical trade-offs.
• Ensure quality end-to-end delivery of software, from problem identification and scoping through to operations.
• Identify and advocate engineering best practices in the domain.

Job description

Minimum qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent practical experience.

• 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role.
• 2 years of experience in a people management or team leadership role.

Preferred qualifications:

• 3 years of experience with full stack development, across the back-end such as Java, Python, Golang, or C++ codebases, and front-end experience including JavaScript or TypeScript, HTML, CSS or equivalent.
• Experience integrating generative AI tools or LLM interfaces into workflows.
