Job summary

Sappi in Cloquet, MN seeks an Engineering Manager to lead a high-performance team overseeing large-scale capital projects and mill maintenance support. You will guide a group including Mechanical and Electrical Project Engineers and a Process Control Superintendent, with broader reporting across engineering and maintenance functions.

Bring a strong track record of at least 10 years in engineering, with 5+ years in leadership of complex projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or related field).
• Minimum of 10 years of engineering experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role managing capital projects.
• Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage complex projects in an industrial or manufacturing setting.
• Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a team of 9 direct reports, including project engineers and technical specialists.
• Oversee planning, budgeting, and execution of large capital projects from concept through commissioning.
• Provide strategic direction and technical oversight to ensure projects meet safety, quality, cost, and schedule objectives.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, maintenance, and corporate teams to align engineering initiatives with business goals.
• Support mill maintenance activities by providing engineering expertise and resources as needed.
• Foster a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and professional development within the engineering team.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
