Job summary

Cadrex is seeking an Engineering Manager to implement and maintain the engineering process in an onsite role in Pennsylvania. You will work across Engineering, Operations, Quality and Safety to ensure continuity and drive improvements.

The position requires 5–7 years in machining with leadership experience, strong communication, Lean knowledge, and CAD proficiency. Onsite schedule is M-F with comprehensive compensation and benefits.

Responsibilities

  • Support generation of pricing proposals for new and existing customers.
  • Lead evaluating new technology and optimizing estimating processes.
  • Identify opportunities to improve products or reduce costs through fabrication knowledge.
  • Provide technical support to manufacturing and quality teams.
  • Develop and implement engineering department policies, standards and procedures.
  • Supervise Estimating & Engineering staff and set annual goals.
  • Support budgeting, material purchases, and equipment needs.

Job description

Overview

Cadrex is searching for an Engineering Manager to Implement and maintain the engineering process. Works closely with other departments to ensure continuity in Engineering, Operations, Quality and Safety.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the generation of new pricing proposals, with new and existing customers
  • Take an active role in growing new business by continual training and evaluation of new technology, and optimization of the estimating process
  • Identify opportunities or implement changes to improve products or reduce costs using knowledge of fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment, assembly methods, quality control standards, or product design, materials, and parts
  • Provide technical expertise or support to manufacturing and quality
  • Incorporate new methods and processes to improve existing operations
  • Confer with vendors, staff, and management personnel regarding purchases, procedures, product specifications, manufacturing capabilities, and project status
  • Consult or negotiate with clients to prepare project specifications
  • Present and explain proposals, reports, and findings to clients
  • Perform administrative functions such as reviewing and writing reports, approving expenditures, enforcing rules, and making decisions about the purchase of materials or services
  • Analyze technology, resource needs, and market demand, to plan and assess the feasibility of projects
  • Develop and implement policies, standards and procedures for the Engineering and technical work performed in the Engineering Department
  • Selects, develops, trains, and supervises Engineering staff (Estimating & Engineering)
  • Sets annual departmental/individual goals, and measure progress throughout the year
  • Supports the selection of correct manufacturing processes, technologies and equipment used for new products
  • Support and enforce the NPI processes through contract review and FAIR submissions
  • Support budgeting efforts (Labor, Equipment, OH)
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of machining experience with at least 3 in a leadership role
  • Possess well-developed and demonstrated interpersonal, communication, and project management skills
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work with minimal supervision
  • PC knowledge/computer literate; including the ability to work with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.), e-mail and use the Internet
  • Working knowledge of LEAN principles
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Workflow analysis skills
  • Experience with high volume manufacturing
  • Must have strong project planning and management skills to prioritize tasks and establish framework and systems for managing areas of responsibility
  • Ability to work in a multi-functional team environment
  • Skills in 2D and 3D CAD (SolidWorks and AutoCAD preferred)
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 and AS 9100 preferred
Education
  • Bachelor's degree in manufacturing engineering preferred
  • May substitute 7+ years related experience in lieu of degree or equivalent combination
