Job summary

General Motors is seeking a Software Development Manager to lead one or more software teams within the Loyalty platform of the Consumer Digital Experiences group. You will coach engineers, guide architecture and delivery decisions, and stay close to the work to unblock complex technical challenges.

The role emphasizes leadership in web technologies such as .NET Core, Angular/React, and microservices, with a focus on secure, scalable, and reliable data products across a hybrid work environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, information systems, or equivalent practical experience.
• Minimum of 10 years of development experience.
• 5+ years of leadership experience including developing teams.
• Strong knowledge of web development technologies including .NET Core / Spring boot, Angular/React, Microservices, REST APIs, Azure or other cloud tech, GitHub, Jira.

Responsibilities

• Set technical and delivery direction by translating business strategy into team priorities and roadmaps.
• Lead and develop engineering teams through hiring, coaching, feedback, mentoring and career development.
• Manage concurrent projects with scope, capacity, dependencies, risks and on-time delivery of data products.
• Provide technical leadership, promote strong software engineering practices and scalable solutions.
• Strengthen reliability, scalability and operational excellence across the platform space.
• Communicate status through program reviews, Jira/Confluence reporting, risk tracking, and leadership updates.
• Lead performance tuning, usability improvement, AI adoption and automation technologies.
• Assess security risks and oversee integration with existing systems.
• Maintain and debug live software systems and ensure compliance with GM standards.
