Job summary

Fivetran is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead the Automations team in Novi Sad, Serbia. You will guide internal automation, tooling, and developer productivity initiatives, collaborating with engineers and stakeholders to turn ideas into scalable, reliable solutions.

This technical leadership role balances hands-on contributions with strategic oversight, shaping the automation roadmap and ensuring high engineering standards across projects.

Qualifications

• Proven experience leading and developing software engineers, with ability to coach, mentor, provide feedback, and help engineers grow their impact and careers.
• Strong software engineering background with depth to guide designs, code, trade-offs, troubleshoot complex systems, and guide technical decisions.
• Experience delivering software projects end-to-end from problem framing to rollout and operations.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach, and develop a team of engineers building internal automation and developer tooling.
• Shape and drive the strategy and roadmap for engineering automation and internal tools, focusing on high-impact opportunities that improve developer productivity and effectiveness.
• Partner with engineers, leaders, and stakeholders to understand pain points, prioritize opportunities, and turn them into pragmatic solutions.
• Provide technical leadership through architecture discussions, design reviews, code reviews, and guidance on engineering quality and system health.
• Own the team’s execution and delivery, balancing speed with reliability, maintainability, and long-term technical quality.
• Build a strong, autonomous team by creating clarity, delegating effectively, and growing technical leadership within the team.
• Contribute hands-on to design, prototyping, coding, or debugging when it is useful.
