Job summary

GitLab is seeking a Manager, Engineering, Git & Gitaly Operations to lead the team responsible for the Git storage and the Gitaly services that power GitLab at scale. You will ensure reliability across Self-Managed, GitLab Dedicated, and SaaS deployments, and drive architectural decisions for a cloud-agnostic platform.

You’ll mentor engineers, shape incident response, and partner across teams to maintain coherence as the platform evolves.

Qualifications

• Deep knowledge of Git internals, protocol, object model, and storage under load.
• Experience operating platform services across Self-Managed, SaaS, and dedicated deployments.
• Proven ability to lead site reliability or platform-ops teams and drive incident response.

Responsibilities

• Build and lead a team with deep Git and Gitaly platform expertise.
• Own production reliability for Git and Gitaly across all deployment footprints.
• Drive incident management, root cause analysis, and postmortems with technical depth.
• Design service models for multiple deployment models with coherent operational playbooks.
• Maintain cloud-agnostic architecture and tooling decisions across hyperscalers and on-premises.
• Collaborate with deployment teams to keep operational practices aligned.
