Job summary

Google is seeking an Software Engineering Manager for AutoCloud within Agentic AI Systems, based in Sunnyvale, CA, with locations including San Francisco. Ideal candidates have 8+ years in software development, strong ML design leadership, and proven people management experience, with GenAI expertise

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 8 years of experience in software development.
• 5 years of experience leading ML design and optimizing ML infrastructure (e.g., model deployment, model evaluation, data processing, debugging, fine tuning).
• 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role.
• 2 years of experience with GenAI techniques or related concepts (e.g., LLMs, multimodal, large vision models).
• 2 years of experience in a people management or team leadership role.

Responsibilities

• Manage, mentor, and grow a team of software engineers; conduct 1:1s and lead recruiting.
• Lead end-to-end engineering execution across multi-quarter roadmaps; ensure scalable, secure, production-ready systems.
• Partner with Product Management, UX, and Tech Leads to translate business goals into milestones and sprint plans.
• Build strong partnerships with Engineering Managers and Directors across Google Cloud to resolve cross-team dependencies.
• Advocate high standards for code quality, architectural reviews, CI/CD, system availability, and ML evaluation/benchmarking.
